Pours black with tiny tan head smooth and easy drinking, bit earthy and some bitter chocolate. Good beer that could just have done with a little bit more going on to elevate it into very good beer territory. SHIG (1375), Oberoffligen, Germany Dec 5, 2007 Cask 78 Ultimate Glasgow tasting afters pub crawl: Poured a black with very little head. The aroma was light with roasted malt. Taste is dark ale with sweet finish. Doppelganger (1080), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Mar 26, 2007 Gravity, Banbury Beer Festival. Deep black, just a bit of brown highlights around the edges. Dark tan head. Treacle and Cheerio® aroma, a touch of old laundry. Soft muddy dark flavors, fairly sweet. Some substance to the palate, but dull and lifeless. leaparsons (3798), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Mar 14, 2007 Cask, Loughborough Fest 07. Black with a small head. Aromas are earthy roast malts with coffee and winter fruit. Flavours are earthy roast malts with fruity berries. Liqourice with some metal and hints of lemon. Dark chocolate bitterness with some saltiness. RichardGretton (2551), Leicestershire, Leicestershire, England Mar 11, 2007 Cask@Loughborough Beer Festival 2007. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly dandelion and burdock, and the flavour is weirdly floral with a dandelion and burdock finish. Overall a weird stout, I do not know what to make of it.
