scotty (764), Scotland Oct 7, 2008 Pretty much a bog standard bitter. this was labelled as Stirling ale, I’m sure it was bought in Tesco, doesn’t really matter I don’t think I’d have bought it again. Allen (737), Wölflinswil, Switzerland Aug 8, 2008 Bottled 50cl. It pours a beautiful dark ruby beer with a small tanned head. The nose is nicely smoky with hints of raisins and honey. Nicely balanced. Raisins, honey, licorice allsorts and heather in the taste which are accompanied by a great smokiness. Sweet. Outstanding full finish with hints of dark chocolate, licorice and heather. Excellent. Bragesnak (1520), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 3, 2008 Bridge of Allan Brewery, Scotland.
Bottled, 250708.
Amber with small head. Aroma of malt and a hint of smoke. Flavor of caramel malt and a roasted dryness. Medium bitterness. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 17, 2007 (Bottle 50 cl) Comes as: "Wallace Monument Traditional 80/- Ale". Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. Somewhat unclean malt aroma. Light-bodied with some tartness and some earthy notes, sort of like elder flower. Distinctly smoked accents and a bitter finish. Odd to have a Bitter with peat smoke being the dominant flavour. More like a Scottish Ale really? 170107 Maria (4973), Thisted, Denmark Jan 1, 2007 Reddish brown, moderate head, and the aroma has notes of roasted malt and fruit. The flavour has slightly sour notes of malt, a bit of smoke, fruit, caramel and a very light bitterness with a dry, slightly harsh citrus note.
