Cask (handpump), Market Porter, Southwark, London, January 2007. Attractive, deep burnished red/brown colour with a scant off-white head. Inviting smoky and roasty warm malts dominates the aroma. Some biscuity notes too. Maintains the full malty aspect through the flavours, accompanied by juicy berry fruit and just enough tangy hop to produce an excellent balance. Mouthfeel is smooth and mellow but full and by no means flabby. Combines weight and subtlety very nicely. A highly accomplished and very satisfying beer.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Deep chestnut with thin beige head. Eggy yeast aroma but some sweet malt too. Good fullness in mouth, some very tasty candy sugar, quite sweet and then tingly hop finish. Nice.

Cask Dark brown with orange highlights, B. C. "H.". Very nice mix of hops and dark malts. Superb nose, this might be the epithomizing of British ale. Soft, mild maltiness but with immense power behingd it. Soft roasted notes, with a strange, but all the welcomer fruitiness. Fresh apricots? It is better than medium bodied - nearly Belgian MF. Wow, I’m impressed by balance AND mouthfeel - this is a big winner for British cask ales.
