In Norwegian tradition alcoholic beverages are sent across the globe to benefit from the temperature variations one experiences when crossing the equator. This beer was brewed at Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth, Australia. Maturation took place in red wine barrels on its journey to Norway. Blending and packaging was carried out by Nøgne Ø.

Editor’s note: Brewed at Bridge Road, bottled at Nøgne Ø. Shipped to Norway in barrels previously used for red wine.

Bottle. Dark brown close to black with a medium sized creamy beige head. The red wine barrels are upfront in the nose, but more discreet in the taste. Wooden notes, plums, prunes, caramel, brown sugar, some late red wine notes. Taste is medium sweet and light/medium bitter with a light acidic touch. Medium/full body, creamy texture, soft/medium carbonation. Hides the alcohol very well and I like the battle between sweet and acidic. Very enjoyable.

Bottle at home. Pours a deep nut brown colour with a big creamy beige head. Aroma of wild berries, leather, oak, apple cider, red currants and vanilla. Has a powerful flavour with much of the same but with more forest floor, heather and some sour apple in the end along with oak and leather. Slick mouth feel, and has a medum berry bitterness. A powerful ale with nice aroma and taste, but maybe a little unbalanced in the mouth.

Bottle at home. Pours very dark brown with a creamy dense beige head. The aroma is sweet fruity with notes of ripe fruit, brett, sweet wine and gooseberries. The flavor is dry but sweet fruity with brett and light acidic. Notes of wine and nuts. Great dry fruity finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
