COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Norwegian tradition alcoholic beverages are sent across the globe to benefit from the temperature variations one experiences when crossing the equator. This beer was brewed at Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth, Australia. Maturation took place in red wine barrels on its journey to Norway. Blending and packaging was carried out by Nøgne Ø.

Editor’s note: Brewed at Bridge Road, bottled at Nøgne Ø. Shipped to Norway in barrels previously used for red wine.

25 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Bottle nr 00280. Pours dark brown with a medium offwhite head that leaves a nice lacing. Extreme complex aroma with strong notes of red wine, oak, malt, dark dried fruits, sherry and caramel. Flavour is complex too with light bitterness, medium sweetness, light dryness, soft carbonation, very full body and a long complex aftertaste with redwine, oak and some fruits. Strange but a very cool one.

Dark brown colour, with an off-white head that is quite large for this style. The aroma is amazing, lots of vanilla, wood, red wine barrels right off the nose. Getting lots of dark fruits, chocolate, this beer is a true sipper and a great beer to nose all night. The taste is similar to the aroma, a bit sweet with hints of toffee and caramel with the high alcohol very well hidden. The red wine touch makes this a great Belgian Strong Quadruple and a big favourite of mine, highly recommended.

250ml bottle. Cloudy, opaque, dark brown colour with red glimmer and huge, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, beige head; humongous lacings. Vinous aroma, hints of oak, blue grapes, dark berries, a touch of cinnamon, cautious hints of chocolate. Taste is sweet with dry overtones, vinous, slightly fruity, minimally chocolately, notes of blue grapes, dark berries, hints of warming alcohol; full body, some alleviating carbonation. Rich and complex, thereby flattering sweet-ish and relatively "easy" drinkable.

Had this quite a while ago in Delirium Hoppy Loft. Didn’t rate it then, will do now. Really enjoyed this beer, was very full of taste and lots of wine taste in it. Is it really because of the story, no idea, but did enjoy it a lot in general.

Bottle, nice label! Pours dark brown with reddish shine and slight frothy big ever lasting cream head. Aroma is very nice and sweet with slight acidity and some sherry grapes. Sweet fruits, some berries among over-ripe raspberries, caramel malts, toasty backbone. Red wine, oak and some vanilla. Taste is heavy sweet, then turns acidic. More quad in taste. Caramel, toasty malts, vanilla, some oak and vanilla. Some marmelade and berries. Quite high carbonation makes the body light for ABV. Really balanced. Slight bitter tannins. Alcohol makes finish dry along the toasty malts.

Bottle thanks to Magnus. Pours a hazy, Dark brown with a huge, off White, long lasting head. Aroma is very vinous! Red wine, tannins, oak, strawberry, caramel, Dark dried fruits. Black currant. Very fruity, slight toast. Taste is really vinous! Dry oak, lovely tartness, vanilla, sweet, intense fruit. Crazy balance between the toasty, belgian sweetness and the dry, tart vinousness. Huge surprise! High carb and surprisingly light body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled from Systembolaget Mörkt brown with a beige head. Vinous aroma with notes of vinegar. Rather sweet and vinous flavour with prune and raisins. Vinegar-notes.

Brewed 20.12.12, BBE 20.12.17, Batch 866B. A very dark brown, a head is big and light brown. Aroma has richness of dried fruits, prunes, raisins, also fresh fruitness of perries and banana, port wine, warming. Complex and enjoyable aroma. Taste is more straightforward than aroma, prunes raisins, perries, some grapes and barrel, also some spicyness in the end. Almost full bodied, nice carbonation is lightening the palate, quite smooth. I haven’t tasted this as a young but now as an older, matured and balanced. The fruitful quad, tasteful beer.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate creamy tan head. Aromas of balsamic vinegar, dark fruit and sweet roasted malts. Flavors of sweet doughy malts, reduced red wine vinegar and chocolate. Interesting mix. Nice.

Bottle from humlebingen.com, thanks! Wow, where to start... The red wine imprint is unquestionable, I would even go so far as to say it is this beer’s dominant trait. Red wine, wood, some funk, redcurrant, chokeberry, some apples, leathery notes. Absolutely fruity, ’red’, complex beer. Soft, full bodied, heavy, with the sweetness being skilfully balanced by just the right amount of tartness. It gets more conventionally ’quadruply’ in the finish, with notes of dark malts, like caramel, chocolate, even faint coffee. This transition from red fruit to dark malts does not affect the barrel notes, however - they are still there. Unlike the alcohol that is so well hidden that you’re no longer sure it’s even there. Exquisite.

Deep dark red pour. Aroma is cherry, berry fruits, mild yeast. Taste is red wine, mild oak, big malt prunes and dates presence, very nice with vanilla at end. Palate is medium carbonation and full. Not my favourite style but really like what they’ve done here.
