COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With the sixth beer in the Bridge Road Bar Series featuring staff from the Local Taphouse venues in St Kilda and Darlinghurst, they decided to borrow a line from the singer’s classic From St Kilda to Kings Cross for their Black India Saison that uses 13 ingredients, including spices in the form of juniper, nutmeg and cloves plus hops in the shape of Nelson Sauvin, Falconers Flight, Northern Brewer and Chinook. The brewing collective tasted it for the first time at the venues’ end of year Ale Stars this week and tell us: “Deep brown in colour with a reddish hue, this beer first presents a full mouthfeel with milk chocolate tones before leading to the style defining Saison dry, funky finish. Backed up by hearty dry hopping and a big pop of juniper berries.”

Tap @ Taphouse Sydney. So much going on (as you’d expect if you brewed a dark india saison). Works really well all things considered.

dark brown color. Very peppery spicy nose with a touch of funk and medicinal flavor. Wow, very flavorful with tons of dark chocolate , cherries, and funk. Slightly sweet, very pepper finish. Excellent

On tap at Archive Beer Boutique. Mild brown colour with a slick of foam across the top. There is some spice in the aroma with clove coming through. The beer sits well in the mouth and is easy to drink with good body and flavour. Different take on a Saison.

On tap at the Local Taphouse. Very well balanced. Aromas of caramel and chocolate, with hints of liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Black, with a frothy head.

Pours a matte dark brown. Odd aroma of rotting fruit. Passionfruit. Bitterness up front with a bit of fizz that fades. Not unpleasant burnt malt comes through in the ending. Interesting.
