COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís easy to see how the name for this beer was conceived. Itís a Scotch Ale from a bar called The Scratch. That said, knowing the guys that run the Brisbane bar, it wouldnít surprise us if they actually decided they wanted a beer that sounded like crotch and worked from thereÖ Either way, the fourth release in the Bridge Road bar series, following beers produced with Josie Bones, Beer DeLuxe and The Norfolk Hotel, is a strong Scotch Ale thatís spent time soaking up the characteristics of American oak soaked in peated oaked 10-year-old Ardbeg whisky Ė in keeping with The Scratch teamís love of beer and Scotch. This beer has turned out exactly as planned. A big malty scotch ale, that incorporates a huge range of aromas and flavours (who needs hops?). Smokey peat, big oak, huge scotch influence and caramel/choc malt characters come together in harmony. Sounds like one to sip and savour.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013 Cookie (ontap) - Sour sweet wood vanilla whiskey barrel age aromas. Brown red colour, nice head and large suds lacing. Big vanilla oaked spice, light sweet roast malt flavour. Spiced vanilla sour berry fruit finish, that lingers nicely into the aftertaste.

One of the best beers Iíve ever had the pleasure to treat my mouth too. With the right choice of using Islay Whiskey, it leaves one with the satisfaction of going home feeling like they had three glasses of scotch when really they had the refreshing sextuplet tulips of a great tasting beer.

On tap at Cookie. Great mouthfeel. Aromas of bacon, caramel, hints of liquorice. Taste is sweet, with light bitter and sour notes, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Brown, with a frothy head.

On tap at The Scratch. Lots of whiskey aromas see out of the glass and the taste is somewhat whiskey like as well. Deep copper colour with a earthy peaty smoked aroma.

Aroma has lots of complex whiskey notes, as well as its own peaty and malty aromas. Appearance is a deep red-brown with a nice reddish-tan head. Taste is peaty, malty and a touch hoppy. The palate reflects all this and is a long and evolving journey through the mouthfeel. Really good!
