Bridge Road Brewers have created their own take on a more traditional beer style - India Pale Ale, originally a heavily hopped beer developed for the long haul from England to India by boat. Fresh hops were added to the barrel and the alcohol was bolstered to ensure the beer went the distance on the high seas. Bling, is a huge beer, with all the bells and whistles. This ale is armed to the teeth with hops and studded with 24 carrot modified malts. At Bridge Road we’ve gone all out to make an IPA that screams hops and malt but still keeps balance in mind. Try matching this beer it with anything spicy or enjoy this malt and hop mouth full on its own. We love it, and hope you can too.

Tap at the brewery in Beechworth. Immaculate deep copper pour with off-white foamy head and considerable lacing. Biscuit and toffee malts, followed by citrus flowers and pine aromas, although slightly subdued. Initial flavours of biscuity malt leading into grass, citrus, pine and pleasing bitterness. A great ipa because it doesn't get too big on you towards the end of the glass and begs for another to be drunk.

Pours a deep amber/copper colour with medium head. Aroma - complex citrus and stone fruit - quite lushious really. Solid malty body with big fruity malt notes, medium moutfeel and lingering bitter fruity hop finish. Good surprisingly sessional ale.

Bottle. Pours dark red, with a big creamy head. Aroma is fruity with orange peel and apricots, as well as caramel malts and grain. Full creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is quite bitter with orange peel, and nice notes of malt before a long rather bitter finish. A nicely balanced IPA.

At just on chilled and into a tulip. Well conditioned, ruddy copper and not quite bright. Mountainous, rocky off white foam atop hold steady and laces a thick weave. There is a toffeeish, biscuity sweetness to the nose that melds well with the piney and floral, Starburst™ fruit chew hops that fill it out. Nice rounded feel on the palate. Prickly carbonation up front before smoothing out and even getting a little oily in the back. An apex of bitter hops is held amongst notes of fruit candy, perfume musk, pine needles and pine wood, dried, mown grass and lime juice. Drops off short in the swallow. Balanced by biscuity, chewy malts and a touch of roasted peanut. All in all a sessionable beast. Well made! (33cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

0.33l bottle @ Henrik. This is a heavy cloudy deep dark plum red one with a islandy off-white head. Really caramelly and sticky on the nose. Lots of sweetness and some resinous hops. Marzipan and almonds are also present in this aroma. Need I mention that it’s on the sweet side of the scale? It has a mild oily mouthfeel and the carbonation level is about average. Nice flavors. It almost feels nutty bitter with lots of strong resinous hops. A strong malty base, caramel biscuits and "I want more" taste after the swallow. Ends light mouthdrying. Mhm, a good one. 08.03.2013
