Poured a cloudy caramel brown with a thick creamy head. Dry piney hop aroma with a grapefruit tilt. The dryness carries through into the flavour, bringing a nice long bitterness. Unfortunately there was also a bit of a hospitally taste. Itís good, with a nice medium body and a good level carbonation, but it doesnít have the all round integration of some of the better APAs.

10 Sep 05 - Fruity and slight burnt sulphur aroma, but not unpleasant. Cloudy light yellow-brown colour, Ok head and reasonable lacing. Big hoppy and light sweet fruit flavour. Dry hop finish with pronounced bitterness. The harsh hoppiness is a bit too much for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very attractive looking beer - big powdery head upon pouring and excellent thick lacing. Big nose, good lift of tropical fruits and floral / herbal notes. Palate is more subdued; sweet malt hints early before firming up in the back palate with herbal hops and a good lick of bitterness. Very good effort from a local bloke.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: hints of toffee and loads of passionfruit. Appearance: golden yellow with a slight haziness from the yeast. Bubbly head with some patchy lacing. Flavour: passionfruity hop bitterness but with balanced with loads of sweet malt. The hop flavour/aroma gives a fantastic floral finish. Palate: not as much lingering bitterness as I am used to with this "style" but lasting sweetness. Overall: I actually like this!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Good frothy white head, American Pale Ale but not as full on as others I have tried, lemon and fruit in the taste, cascade hops on the nose, dull golden straw body, a good APA but it loses it towards the end, similar to little creatures but more suited for my palate.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2005 Dark gold-light copper colour, clear, nice head. Smells (and tastes for that matter) a lot like Little Creatures. It has that floral, lychee, Nivea hand cream, US hop character I just canít manage to get in my own APAs. Itís so similar to LC I wonder if they use a hopback. Icing sugar malt sweetness is overrun by big, prickly, herbal hop flavour with some vanilla and Brazil nuts in there somewhere. Bitterness is big and LONG with a quinine character. It finishes quite rough (not necessarily in a bad way but it doesnít seem as classy) which is the only thing that really sets it apart from LC. Itís funny, just by looking at the bottles I had a feeling that this breweryís beers would be good (and I was right!) - the only thing I can think is that the descriptions on the bottle made them sound like they knew what they were talking about.
RR: A bottle I suspect was from the same batch as my original rating (16/08/05.) Age hasnít really done it any favours. Hop aroma is very much subdued, with a weird phenolic, almost roast malt-esque character throughout. Certainly not as bitter as it was either. This one was more of a typical, middle-of-the-road Aussie APA, unfortunately.

Pours brilliant copper colour, with a strong tightly packed head. A slight
chill haze is present and adds to the depth of the copper hue.
On the nose smells of ripe melons and passionfruit and apricots can be detected, indicating the high hop profile of this ale.
The pallet is very rounded and quite full, with some up front malt and
tropical fruit flavors, light carbonation, and very leasent lingering
