Bridge Road Brewers have created their own take on a more traditional beer style - India Pale Ale, originally a heavily hopped beer developed for the long haul from England to India by boat. Fresh hops were added to the barrel and the alcohol was bolstered to ensure the beer went the distance on the high seas. Bling, is a huge beer, with all the bells and whistles. This ale is armed to the teeth with hops and studded with 24 carrot modified malts. At Bridge Road weíve gone all out to make an IPA that screams hops and malt but still keeps balance in mind. Try matching this beer it with anything spicy or enjoy this malt and hop mouth full on its own. We love it, and hope you can too.

Pours amber with an off white head and a grassy, sweet caramel malt aroma. The flavour screams a mix of hops and im trying to pick them all out.. Amarillo?.. Centenial.. Regardless its very tasty and i.m impressed. great work bridge roads very well balanced.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma. Fruity malty hoppy flavor with some toffee hints. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter finish.

Wow, this beer really packed some hop punch! Great big hit of fresh hops straight up to let you know what youíre in for. A good malt flavour balances out the hops and keeps the beer clean and well balanced. On tap @ the Wheatsheaf, Adelaide.

The best BRB beer Iíve tasted so far. It sports a pleasing deep rich colour although with a average head today. I also tasted a degree of malt heaviness out of proportion with the usually heavely weighted hops componant the style should boast. Despite this, this beer drinks remarkedly well with a slight astringent finish

Lucky Vics. This is one of the better Australian pale ales. Not quite top rung - suffers marginally from the usual problem of being malt heavy, hop light - but hoppier and better balanced than most. Cloudy bottle-brown with an enduring head. Crystal malt-heavy nose - toffee, wine notes, canned peaches and faint passionfruit. Nice, thick mouthfeel. Caramel chews, mint leaves and pine on the tongue. Nice finish. Bit too sweet, as Australian pale ales tend to be. Another 10 IBUs and this would go on my íregularsí list. Streets ahead of most of the pale ales on local shelves. (330ml bottle)

From a 330ml bottle on 6/2/2011. Pours a cloudy dark orange. Has a moderate hoppy aroma, with some pine and citrus fruit. In the mouth, thereís some more sweet fruit and toffee, with medium though quite long hop kick. Has a very creamy body. A decent crack at an IPA, though not in the same class as Jamiesonís Beast, Feralís Hop Hog, or a raft of excellent American IPAs.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2012 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Medium brown with an off white head that quickly faded away. Sweet malts on the nose with a hint of raisins and sultanas. Palate isnít as thick as Iíd like but still ok. Starts well with sweet malts and finishes with a decent bitterness. Overrall a good sessionable ipa but I would rather drink feralís hop hog anyday

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2010 Bottle. Pours a murky brown with rocky beige coloured head. Good lacing but not a great looking beer to be honest. Aromas are pretty subdied be honest. Some sweet biscuity malt and some resiny hops. Decent enough. Sweet initially followed by some resiny hop bitterness. Fullish mouthfeel. Zingy carbonation.

Super hazy, muddied ruby coloured brown body with some copper and bronze highlights and a very thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of metal, peaches, nuts, caster sugar, alcohol, pit fruits, raisins and a touch of light hops - definitely not the strongest of the scents though! Medium-bodied; Strong metallic and malty flavours show up first, then fade to a hoppy overtone and a bit of a raisiny and pit fruity (almost like a barley wine) flavour. Overall, an okay IPA, definitely not what iím used to from American IPAs, but showing a lot of malt, a lot of raisins and a lot of character from this beer. I sampled this 330 mL bottle purchased from SlowBeer in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 31-December-2009 for AU$4.30 sampled at home on the other side of the world in Washington on 06-September-2010.
