COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bridge Road Brewers have created their own take on a more traditional beer style - India Pale Ale, originally a heavily hopped beer developed for the long haul from England to India by boat. Fresh hops were added to the barrel and the alcohol was bolstered to ensure the beer went the distance on the high seas. Bling, is a huge beer, with all the bells and whistles. This ale is armed to the teeth with hops and studded with 24 carrot modified malts. At Bridge Road weve gone all out to make an IPA that screams hops and malt but still keeps balance in mind. Try matching this beer it with anything spicy or enjoy this malt and hop mouth full on its own. We love it, and hope you can too.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2011 Bottle. Murky copper, tight beige head that fades quite a bit. Savoury malt and hop aroma. Hop aroma is predominantly grass and citrus, but there are pine, flowers and herbal touches too. Medium to full body. Fruity sweetness with big but subtle bitterness. Perhaps the finish could linger longer.

On tap at Hashigo Zake. Pours hazy amber, good IPA colour. Hoppy malty aroma, zesty hops but a bit of sulfur.
Flavour is well balanced between zesty hops and malt body. A great lingering bitterness on the finish makes this a solid IPA.

Tap. Very hoppy, great taste. Aroma of grass, and bitter flavour that lasts long. Palate is velvety, and it has a medium body. Orange colour, with a frothy white head.

Bottle. Pours a light reddish copper colour with a creamy beige head that lasts for a little while. Aroma has plenty of floral hops as well as notes of toffee, malt, cinnamon and some tropical fruits. Flavour is not as strong as the nose suggests but has hints of citrus, malt, toffee and some bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is on the light side but still has enough body to hold it all together. Easy to drink and not overly sweet or bitter, this is a nice example of the style without pushing any boundaries.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2011 Beechworth seem to like uping the malt, thankfully this is reasonably hoppy as well. Not in West coast territory, but still quite bitter on the finish. Nose is dominated by the malt and this baby is dark for the style. Pretty easy drinking and reasonably balanced.

Earthy red pour with a thin covering of off-white head. Aroma has lots of grassy hops, lots of sweet fruit notes. Grapefruit, peach, apples and pear. Underlying sweet toffee malt is definitely not forgotten. Nutty/toasty cereal malt is first impression upon tasting, followed by an impressive long-lasting bitterness characterised by a slight grapefruit hoppy note. Quite highly carbonated. Nice heavy mouthfeel though. Much more malt driven than several other IPAs Ive had, which Im quite partial to.

Bottle (330ml) 5.8%. Poured burnt copper with a lightly tanned, dense frothy head which was average lasting. Strong notes of resinous piney hops in the aroma with superb tropical fruit notes; passion fruit, pineapple, ripe apricots and some biscuity malts and toffee to back it all up. Flavor was a dry resinous hop bitterness (as expected) with grapefruit, passionfruit, nectarines, toffee malts and a great dry piney/grassy finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry hoppy mouthfeel and a great finish. An extremely sessionable IPA very moreish.

On tap at the Royston, Richmond. Looks great, deep amber almost copper colour with nice thick creamy beige head. Burnt hop aromas with underlying malt. Flavour is sweet malt and pine needles from the hops. Nice even palate, flavours come together well for me. Great example of an IPA, could be a bit harder on the hop bitterness, but very well crafted, take a bow guys you have created a little beauty!

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2011 330ml bottle. First rated this back in February 2011 and I dont know if my palte has developed or this has gotten better since then but it is much better than I recall. Poured a copper colour with a heaped crown of beige foam. Aroma is packed with hops and citrus with some caramel hiding in there as well. Rich malty flavor, nutty and caramel that is quite good. Long and lingereing on the palate.
