2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A slow and steady pour reveals a highly charged, translucent, dullish amber beer crowned by an ever growing, fluffy off-white head that lifts a good inch from the glass. Strong, concentrated pineapple and passionfruit nose, almost candyish and sweet with a touch of berry bubblegum and lime zest underneath. Frothy, soapy mouthfeel, quite light in body and a little slick in the swallow. Resinous hops dominate as is the intention but not with the control seen in the Stella Single Hop. Sweet and tangy fruit esters, pronounced passionfruit and candied citrus, a little cantaloupe and lychee. Malt profile, well there really isnít much, a faint touch of toasted and crystal grain lingers on the palate after each sip. Bitterness is moderate, raspy and a little rough in the swallow, with a toothpick woodiness. Not altogether a stand-out, yet I must say though it goes down in lightning speed, before I knew it it was gone. I suppose thatís a plus. (33cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Beautiful aroma. Nice deep honey colour. Great hop flavour. Really nice bitterness. Wish it was a little thicker in the mouth. Other that it was great!

Iíll start with a few words of advice, that really should be on the packaging - this beer is unfiltered, and is best served by pouring 4/5 into a glass, then swooshing the bottle around to stir up the sediment and to form a head. Then, youíre greeted by a murky amber gold, with thin tan foam. Smells wonderful; Passionfruit, elderflower, guava, cassis. Honey and caramel above wattle & lemon myrtle on the palate, before the hops take the reins and drive the long, floral, dry and spicy finish. A big step towards redemption, both in style & execution. Just gets better and better as it warms up.

My fourth single hop IPA in a row, a couple of Mikkellers the little creatures and now this one. This has a great aroma, passionfruit, the appearance is a little dull with a sunburnt orange and gold body and very short head. In the taste it is a little resinous, I donít really go for galaxy as a bittering hop, didnít appreciate it in my own homebrew and not in this one, drank really easy though more of an APA than IPA.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Looks good when poured and is solid gold in colour with a lively light foam head and tiny beads of bubbles snake their way up the glass. Deep sweet floral aromas reminiscent of a garden in spring time. The flavour lacks a little compared to the the aroma the the look. Malty hop flavour with a long dry finish. One of the better Bridge Road beers.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2011 Bottle 330ml, 2010 version. Great beer, very well balanced. Aromas of grass, citrus, and caramel. Taste is nicely bitter, with sweet notes, some acidity, and very long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber colour, cloudy, with a thin frothy head.

I donít think Iíve tried the galaxy hop before so didnít quite know what to expect. the nose is lovely, citrus, grass, fresh. flavour has some maltiness and the same hop notes with a predominantly grassy linger. The mouthfeel is lacking a bit but that is the price you often have to pay for 4.8%. With a bit more body and alcohol this could carry a lot more flavour, but Iím loving the fact that this is íweakí enough to drink a 6 pack and yet really hoppy and flavoursome. Cheers nate2g!
