COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cloudy, quirky, smooth and refreshing, this German styled wheat beer is one for all.

Bridge Road Brewers can trace its inspiration for this beer back to Europe, through its brewer, Ben Kraus, who cut his teeth brewing in Innsbruck, Austria.

Bridge Road Brewers have re-created a German style hefe-weizen that conjures memories of German bier halls, giant pretzels and busty bavarian girls in traditional dresses…. Well it does for the guys at Bridge Road, they’ve sourced the best ingredients from Germany to give you a great wheat beer here in oz. As for the giant pretzels? Well you’ll have to come to the brewery. Busty Bavarian girls? Sorry, can’t help you there. This non bitter beer style exhibits banana aromatics and clove like flavours, owing to a yeast sourced from Germany’s oldest brewery.

Lightly cloudy with a white head. A bit of yeast and spice. Not a whole lot going on here.

Shared bottle at Plonk. This was a pretty ordinary, uninspired hefeweizen.

(Bottle) Clear pale amber with thin short-lived loose head. Not very pleasant aroma - partly fruity, partly damp cardboard. Light body with coarse fizzy carbonation. Taste starts quite pleasant with fruity notes - banana and citrus - but the rather harsher, somewhat phenolic flavours emerge leaving an aftertaste that was not to my taste. Disappointing.

Light fruity aroma. Cloudy golden amber colour with little head. Reasonable blend of malt and hops but generally mild. Light body with low to medium carbonation.

Bottle. Not one of my favourite styles, but I’m sure some hefe appreciators out there would really like this one.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Bottle from cellar door (October 2013). Hazy pale yellow, solid white head, subtle wheat, banana, clove, bubblegum characters, low bitterness, some yeast funkiness. Ok.

Tap @ the brewery. Frothy white head that limited the aromas of banana and clove. Highly carbonated with flavours of banana, bread, clove and citrus. Tasted good with the delicious pretzels at the brewery but not the best hefe.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma was unsurprisingly crushed banana! The flavour is grapefruit citrus fruit, spicy and a little sour. Maybe it was the Bombay mix I’d recently been eating, cos the crushed banana wasn’t evident in the flavour! It’s a sharp citrus spicy and very different Hefeweizen. Check it out if you can.
