COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The harvest has been hopped to the hilt using fresh hop cones straight from the nearby Rostrevor hop garden. The variety of hop is unique to the gardens research block. The variety was selected for "The harvest" due to its big orange and citrus aromas, with the fresh hop being added to the kettle as well as the conditioning tank. As for how the hop character translate into the beer, well open it and find out.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2011 Very surprised by this oneís rating. Aroma is fantastic. Lots of tropical fruits. Lychee, passionfruit, citrus. Less fruits in the flavour but still a little bit there, hops play a small role. Light pale malts back the beer. Much better than some are letting on to be

330ml bottle. Golden bright amber colour with a large thick white head that is deep like fresh snow. Aroma of freshly picked oranges and mandarins with a piney backdrop from the hop cones. Zingy and zesty in the mouth.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2013 Bottle, 12C. Pours pale gold with a large fluffy white head. Smells of grapefruit, blood oranges and a little resin with an odd (but not unpleasant) Wit-like yeast note - although a lot less than some others look to have found. The hop aroma is fresh but mild. Thereís light nectarine sweetness underneath aromatic but modest bitterness. Utterly frivolous throwing around of fresh hops with just enough malt to make it work. Fresh and lovely seasonal session beer. [3.6]

[5/11] 2011 version: as above, but with more tropical fruit notes in both aroma and taste - lychees and passionfruit I suppose - and a touch of spice in the finish. That (odd yeast?) character is there again, but I still donít mind it. The hops are interesting and very unusual. [3.6]

[4/12]2012 version. Hazy yellowish orange with a modest white head. Aroma of oranges, lychees, gooseberries, menthol, marijuana. Fruity with a dry and quite bitter finish thatís still overmatched by the green hops. [3.6]

2013 version - again different hops. Aroma is less tropical and green - a little cleaner with lime joining lychees and passionfruit. Bitterness is higher and the finish is dry and buzzing. Liked this version better. [3.7]

From a 330ml bottle on 15/5/2010. Has an unusual yeasty citrus aroma - as claimed on the label, itís orange that comes immediately to mind. This one was packed with as much yeast sediment as Iíve found in a beer. Flavour wise, itís as curious as its aroma. Citrus fruits predominate (orange again, and some lemon) but the big hop kick which is promised just doesnít eventuate, with the bitterness moderate at best.

Pours amber with a large head. Nose shows ridiculously fresh hops... like that green, just picked flowers and fresh mown grass smell. Lots of resin, very sweet, very spicy. Amazing. Plenty of cookie dough malt to back it up as well. Loads more cookie dough as a flavour, along with a fair bit of bready malt before transitioning to a hint of grainy-ness. some nutty notes in there as well, pecans or something. Lively carbonation is a bit excessive, but the body is quite smooth.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a slightly greenish tinge. Minimal head though i suspect this one was not capped properly. Aroma is full of bready yeast. I am really not getting much else. Unfortunately I seemed to have missed all the expected hop aromas. Flavours are a little bland as once again I am really only getting the yeast. None of the expected hop bitterness. Average at best.

Nice and lively beer, with a great nose. Light cloudy yellow, with a nice off white head. Palate is a bit thin, with a slightly funny yeast character... But immensely quaffable, and a good session beer.. although not at the price...

Tap. Delicious. Aromas of citrus, and pine. Taste starts sweet, with some sourness, and a long bitter finish. Palate is velvety, with a light-to-medium body. Cloudy yellow, with a frothy white head.

Bottle shared with Nate. As he says it may be a bit passed it, but i still enjoyed it. Looked a bit piss weak, very light straw yellow. Aroma is malt accentuated with faint hops. In the mouth is quite heavy and the resonious hops are interesting. Overall well done. Fresher I could only imagine it mgght be a few points higher. Cheers Nate!
