Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 24, 2006 A dark brown beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel being most dominant, but also lesser notes of chocolate and straw. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a very long lasting dry end. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 6, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Almost black in colour with a reddish tint and a beige head. Rather roasted aroma with a coffeeish touch. Medium-bodied with some roasted malt and a lightly burned edge. Somewhat fruity still - odd for a Stout. Dry finish. Overall a pleasant experience. 220406 Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 5, 2005 Dark brown colour. The aroma is complex but indistinct. Whole grain bread leads the way in the nose but I’m struggling to pick out much of anything else. Molasses notes are at the fore of a sweet, nutty body that features leathery accents and sugar-laden gas station coffee. Roast and hop bitterness are minimal, making this more of a porter (a style in which molasses is more at home anyway). joergen (6240), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 22, 2006 Bottle, thanks to Papsø for sharing.
