keith0718 (151), Olathe, Kansas, USA Apr 17, 2007 A very good, but easy-going stout which is just ever so slightly lacking some malty fullness. However, this is a great beer: tastes great and goes down easy. A good "everyday" beer.
nearbeer (1334), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 26, 2008 12 oz. Opaque with a creamy quarter-inch head that endures and frosts the glass. Big molasses, coffee and marshmallow aromas. Flavor is similar, but subdued well by some nice hickory char and additional coffee. Medium body is super-creamy smooth and pleasantly dry, with a very drinkable balance between sticky vs. watery mouthfeel. This one was a very pleasant surprise. freekyp (822), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Sep 13, 2008 Historically I’m not a big fan of the dry stout style. I think Guiness and its cohorts are generally decent but lacking in flavor. This beer is a pleasantly surprising exception. Silky smooth and pitch black with a dark head that fades quickly, the aroma is strong espresso and raw molasses. Flavor is much the same with a strong deeply bitter finish. Has a bit of sweetness to offset the strong bitter espresso character. RaginCajun (261), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2008 Dark brown body with a small but persistent head. Lots of roasted malts in the aroma, very inviting. The nose is all malts and it fades quickly into a slight hop finish. Very reminiscent of Guinness, but tastier. Good session beer. Biddle_Brau (155), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Aug 21, 2008 Black with brown highlights. Long lasting dense tan head. Faint roasy aroma. Creamy and rich flavor, not too roasty or burnt, clean and more satisfying than the porter.
