COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fiercely local, drawing on indigenous ingredients from the hop fields of the Willamette Valley and the barley fields of the high Northwest desert. This pale ale is round and soft on the palate, finishing crisply, to capture the flavor and spirit of the Pacific Northwest in every pint and bottle.

Quite simply, this is the most perfectly balanced beer I have ever had. Head and shoulders better than any of the other Portland brews. See other comments for very accurate beer-snob description, hoppy nose, hint of citrus, yadda yadda yadda.

this is my all time fav. starting with a nice simple blue label that pays tribute to the official bird of portland. great clean taste, very hoppy without being a "brewers" beer. some brewers overwhelm me with hops but the bridgeport guys keep it solid. my overall fav. best from a tap.

Wow, this is really good brew! I’m new to the micro brew type beers and I’ve been missing out on a lot of high quality beer. Blue Heron is superb. Lots of flavor, fresh, crisp, clean and flowery with a beautiful color. To think this stuff is brewed right across the river from me and I never knew. I definitely must try this on tap. I recommend this beer it’s very good.

Very clear clean look, orangeish hue to it. Fruity smell, hops in the aroma. VERY crisp and a bit bitter but in a good way. Very approachable drinkable beer.

This may be my favorite american beer. Delicious, smooth, just a tiny bit creamy, nice finish

The oldest of BridgePort’s beers, Blue Heron is one of those rare birds in Oregon (sorry)--a true session ale. Red-hued, gently citrusy from Cascade hopping.

This is one of my favorite beers yet I can't pin down what I love about it. In fact, it was this beer and Sinebrychoff Porter that got me interested in ratebeer.com this last summer. I've been holding off until recently on rating beers because I haven't been able to figure this one out. Nothing outstanding about Blue Heron, nothing to scoff at either. First tried it on the recommendation of a barkeep in Bozeman in '99 and it has been my favorite session beer ever since. Pours a fantastic translucent tangerine and gold with a fluffly, brainy head. Mild hop and citrus nose that refreshes and clears my senses. Each hop and malt balanced sip is greeted with this aromatic tease. Always better in the middle of the beer, but fine and proud character from start to finish. I find it to be less thin and watery than most APAs, with a more agreeable bitterness front to back. When living in MT, always kept at least six of these on hand. I am heavily biased, for whatever reason, but I love this beer.

Pours a medium copper color, small head that lasts only a minute. Very faint slightly sweet and hoppy aroma, and a fresh crisp taste up front A bit of a toasted roasted trailer and very nice and smooth mouth feel. Easy on the hops, like I like it. Finish is clean and soft. No unpleasant aftertaste. Tasty, refreshing, somewhat local, afordable brewskie. Very nice

Before I was a HopHead, this was my beer. Perhaps one of the smoothest transitions to a great NW hoppy beer. Bridgeport gets high marks from me for consistently great, paletable ales!
