3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillKismet (3000) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 3, 2011Coffee colored body topped with a lightly tanned head. Crisp, roasty coffee nose with a chocolate-covered espresso bean character. You can smell the fresh grind. The flavor is deliciously roasted coffee, but refined--and again the chocolate-covered espresso bean character seeps through the palate. An intimation of chocolate, yet this is still, all about the coffee.

Pours nice and dark. Serious coffee aroma. Very little head, slight lacing. Mostly coffee flavor, with a bit of chocolate and a hint of smoke. Tasty and easy drinking.

Bottle:   Dark cola, not as dark as I was thinking, moderate foamy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Fresh coffee on the nose, slightly husky.   Smooth sweetened coffee and roasted malts on the tongue.   Seems a lot of creamer, a little bit of sugar.   Not as acrid as coffee, thankfully.   Smooth, but moderate in body.   Soft finish, some sweetened coffee and roasted malts.   Pretty average, but fairly solid.   Not too hoppy either.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Fatehunter (749) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Poured into a pint glass. Black, black and blacker. A nice inch of tan head that is still holding minutes after the pour.
Ummm, roasted coffee and more coffee. Smells like my breakfast drink. There is some underlying burnt and roasted malt too.
Tastes like coffee. Bitter comes in halfway through and then a slight watered down taste. The hops do not balance with the coffee and malt very well. It results in a bit of a battle that ends with an off bitter taste towards the end.
Soft body at first, most crisp towards the end. Moderate carbonation.
Not the best "coffee" beer, but not horrible. The taste was the only let down.

I really think this got the bad side of the coffee here. Just a dry cocoa aftertaste, not very rewarding.

Pours a Mahoney brown with a small tan head and some lacing present. Strong coffee taste but not a pleasing coffee flavor. Will not buy again. Real Ale's Coffee Porter is much better.

Mid size beer with a lot of character. Very dark brown liquid tan foam. Dark roasted coffee aromas and fruity pepper, chile flavors. Easy non bitter finish some viney hop character, herbal. Very interesting and probably versatile with food, holding up to richer roasted flavors and fine with desserts too.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drake (6488) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - FEB 27, 2012
Served on draft at Thirsty Monk South. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and faint caramel. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 taphandle (1135) - Texas, USA - FEB 7, 2012
Dark brown, decent head. Aroma of roasted coffee with flavors of chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Seems to hide the coffee well since Porter often carries flavors similar to coffee and chocolate.
