Buckets of crystal malt and booze in the aroma, fruit cake, sultanas and very faint US hops? Basically it’s hollow crystal malt flavour and not much else. It really disappears on the palate. Pretty ordinary stuff which is a shame because the Jubelale got me a bit fired up about this one. It wouldn’t surprise me if I was told this one was an Australian beer actually.

Jan 3, 2009. 12 oz bottle
Thin malty aromas of deep carmel. no hops, some figgy esters.
Deep browm, some ruby highlights, lots of bubbles visible, smallish off-white head with good retention.
Malt dominates the flavor - rich and carmelly. Some hop bitterness, but no flavor. Some spice (cinnamon) in the aftertaste. Somewhat oxidized and the flavor is overall quite thin.
Medium body, high carbonation. No astringency, slightly creamy/coating
This could be quite good, but it’s oxidized which, I think thins everything out considerably. will have to try again.

Bottle. Poured a deep chestnut brown color with some red highlights and a thick, dense off-white head that slowly receded and left a little lacing. Aroma of caramel, spice (cinnamon and nutmeg), some toffee, and a hint of hops. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with a bit of caramel/toffee leads into a somewhat harsh minerally taste that transitions into a light hoppiness with undertones of spices, similar to those in the nose. Moderation carbonation, decent mouthfeel. Decent beer, but not something I will seek out again.

Dark hazy amber with a modest head and fair lacings. Aroma is some caramel. Taste is spicey dark malts with a good bitter hop finish. Some gingerbread, leather, cinnamon, and a bit of pepper. Decent winter warmer from a style I am done with for this year. Better than average.

12oz bottle. I really like this beer, makes me even want to visit the remodeled disaster that is the Bridgeport Pub to have it on cask. Dark amber pretty brew, with a white head. Smells great, lots of malt and toffee. Christmas/holiday flavors of spice, cinnamon and some nice hops with the piney hops. Drinks down easily, which makes for a nice addition to the winter beer arsenal.

12 oz. bottle. Clear ruby color pour. Thin, off white head. Aroma of cinnamon, malt. Flavor is a bit light. Some mild spices, piney hops, dark toffee. Finish is just a bit bitter. Nice beer.
