A refreshing extra pale ale, Haymaker features a distinct blend of four malts and three varieties of hops that create a slightly complex ale with a light body and a crisp finish. Its alcohol by volume of 5.3% complements the low bitterness - 15 bittering units - and original gravity of 12.8 degrees Plato. Bright golden in color, it can best be described as "sunshine in a glass."

12 oz bottle. Golden pour. Light citrus nose. A small citrus flavor with a light hop bit through the body and the finish. A bit of malt is present at the start. Doesn’t seem "extra pale" to me. A bit one dimensional and boring, but not a horrid brew.

Gold bottle pour with white head. Nose of malty with a hint of citrus. Flavor was sweet, with hints of citrus, caramel, and just a touch of banana. Body is rather light with clean finish.

Aroma of floral hop (I think) backed with some citrus. The aroma seems a bit dusty. Lightly orange tinged gold color with a subtantial head that attempts some lacing. Starts lightly sweet and floral, followed by a light maltiness, which continues into the finish. There is a floral or herb component in the finish, as well as a malt note, and barely enough bitter. After four lagers, this was a pleasure. Perhaps otherwise, if it had followed four IPAs.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2007 12 oz bottle from Safeway. Pours a clear golden color with a small head. Nose is malty with some vanilla. Taste is the same with a dash of caramel, and some subtle floral and citrus hops in the finish. Body is light. Carbonation medium. A nice easy to drink beer for when you want something tasty but not overdone.

Extra pale, funny catagory, slightly less hoppy then the NW pales and a bit more dry. Light citrus and pine hops with a mild grapefruit finish. Light grain flavor, bright and crisp in the finish.
