Commercial Description:
A refreshing extra pale ale, Haymaker features a distinct blend of four malts and three varieties of hops that create a slightly complex ale with a light body and a crisp finish. Its alcohol by volume of 5.3% complements the low bitterness - 15 bittering units - and original gravity of 12.8 degrees Plato. Bright golden in color, it can best be described as "sunshine in a glass."

Draft. A hazy pale golden beer with a thin head. The aroma is sweet with with light notes of citrus, while the flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of citrus, leading to a dry wheaty finish. The body is thin.

Bottle: Pours a goldish yellow color with light head and some lacing. The nose is dry and husky with some wheat and malt, the hops are dusty and a bit vague. The flavor is thin, lots of pale malts, maybe even pilsner malts. Lacking bitterness. Thin finish. Lawnmower beer for sure, and not a bad one at that. I’ll take this over that ever-so-popular Full Sail Session Lager any day. Then again, a Terminal Gravity IPA would best them both combined. Touché!

Draft @ Bridgeport in Portland. Mostly clear straw colored body. Nose of skunked grains and hazy and dry, twangy, strange hops (moldy). Flavor is malt-forward but thin on the palate, skunky and twangy, simple and sour grains. Not good.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white, mostly diminshing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of metal shavings. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Kinda boring, lean, and uninspiring. Ok, but I can’t find much to say. The aroma reminds me a bit of Anchor’s products (Steam, Liberty).
