4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (1902) - Georgia, USA - APR 15, 2011
Comes out of the tap a nearly opaque chocolaty brown with a minimal light tan head. Malty, woody aroma has a hint of caramel. Rich, malty flavor has woody, yeasty and caramel tones as well as a hint of horehound. Texture is fizzy, edgy and tingly.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (7579) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 6, 2010
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark amber brown with a low off-white head. Aroma is toffee and perhaps light vanilla. Near full in body with creamy, frothy carbonation. Flavor is sweet dark malt, with definite vanilla and some woody astringency. Finishes more sweet than bitter. But there is bitter in the finish as the sweet washes away. The bourbon barrel imparts the sort of smoothness found in Paradox ales, and enhances a scotch ale into a higher orbit.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cathcacr (620) - Oregon, USA - JAN 10, 2010
Rating #600. Nice offering overall; the aroma and flavor deliver a fairly standard Scotch-aley candied sugary fruity sweetness. Deep semi-opaque amber color. Foam head layer well-retained.

22 oz bomber from Fred Meyer.
Chesnut brown, slightly hazy ale, smokey looking, even! Light brown loose ,large bubbled head.
Strong Oaky, smoky aromas, little vanilla bean too.
Good strong semi-bitter malt driven beer, the oak and vanilla take the background until the end, when a nice after taste is left. Not much notice of hops ( good for style)..little smke even in the after glow.
Very nice palate on this one..they got it just right for style.
Overall a beer i really enjoyed and will buy more before this bottling s over.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head that faded and produced some lacing. the aroma was bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, nut and vanilla. The flavor was malty and sweet with notes of nut, caramel, brown sugar and vanilla. The finish was long and malty with vanilla and bourbon lingering. Fairly full bodied. Nice.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RSRIZZO (1679) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2011
22oz bottle poured into a Tulip at 41°. Color is a deep dark mahogany with good carbonation and a thick light tan head. Aroma has a sweetness with some dark fruit scents and a touch of yeast. It has a bold medium body that gives a creamy mouth feel. Flavor is lightly roasted with dried fruits, vanilla and a hint of oak, then a faint floral hop taste and a bitterness that balances perfectly with the sweet front flavors. In the after taste the sweet fruits seem to come back out and on the tail the oak lingers. Overall this is a great brew, one of the best Scotch Ales I can recall having.

Black with a fizzy white head and champagne carbonation. Banana cherry and vanilla aroma. Roasty taste with notes of coffee slight chocolate toffee oak and a woody vanilla finish.

22 oz bottle from the brewery - It pours a hazy brown, with a frothy head that slides down the side of the glass after a sip. It’s got a medium sweetness and tastes only lightly bitter. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a true Scotch Ale, but this one is pretty good.

Clear dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma of caramel and toffee. A little woodiness comes in on the tongue with a sweet but not cloying finish. I didn’t get any of the sharp/off notes some have mentioned.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 boFNjackson (2933) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 18, 2009
Bottle (shared with Angeloregon)... Poured amber with a moderate head. As the beer warmed it really opened up with a rich, whiskey-like aroma. Smooth, full bodied and very drinkable. Flavors of malts, caramel, vanilla, oak, and that definitive bourbon aged finish. Can’t believe it’s only 6.8%. Tasted way burlier. Could this be the Winter Warmer Session we’ve been waiting for? Kudos to Bridgeport, this "Big Brew" is heading them in the right direction.
