UPDATED: FEB 12, 2012 12 oz bottle pours a hazy amber with a white head. Nice citrus and floral aroma. The taste hits you with bitter hops right away. Then the citrus comes out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium orange with a tall pillowy head. Heavy malts over this bitter orange and citrus hopped DIPA. Some light floral notes. A bit sweet, fruity, and bitter. A slightly off-putting finish, however, makes this not one I’ll be coming back to very often. Still, decent enough.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Cloudy copper. Has a upfront hop taste. Grassy piney hops. After a couple drinks a orangy flavor pops out but mostly the grassy hops. Decent

Tap at the brewpub. Slightly hazy light orange pour with a clingy white head. Citrus rind, bitter. A little underflavored and under-aroma’ed for big IPAs here in 2015 - this one needs a new coat of paint.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Bridgeport. Clear orange colored beer with a dense white head. Fresh grass clippings and huge weed nose. A bit of the sweet caramel malt thing coming through. Maybe some apple, which I could do without. The bitterness is really intense. A ton of grass, citrus rind, pine, and weed. A little too much for me.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from bottle. Hazy amber, aroma was dank, skunky, light citrus. The taste was terrible imo, skunky, dank, bitter, citrus, earthy. Fairly tough on the palate. Definitely not for me.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.
Appearance: pours a 2" off white fluffy head that drops very slowly with abundant lacing. Color is cloudy golden-orange with some sediment in suspension and mild streaming carbonation.
Aroma: pine, citrus, and pineapple dominate the white bread dough backbone.
Mouthfeel: medium a bit chewy & sticky with a somewhat dry and astringent finish.
Flavor: bitter citrus rind dominates from start to finish with some pine and tangerine notes. Malt is less pronounced than I expected with just enough sweetness to be noticeable.
Overall: very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head fades relatively quickly leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a fruity smell with lots of tropical fruits and citrus aromas. Along with these aromas comes some smells of a melon as well as some aromas of a more modest grassy and grapefruit hop smell. Overall quite sweet and delicious.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready flavor mixed with some nice grapefruit hop and a little bit of pine as well. As the taste advances, more and more bitter pine hop come to the tongue, bringing a bit of a resinous taste to the beer. All the while, sweeter flavors accompany the hop tastes, with some tropical and citrus sweet tastes, as well as a bit of a candied sugar comes to the tongue. Some hay and grass and an increase in the pine and some earth come at the very end, leaving one with a rather pleasant and smooth, but nicely hopped and decently sweeter flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The thicker and creamier feel are fantastic for the brew and make for one easy drinking and flavorful double IPA.
Overall – This was another rather enjoyable brew by Bridgeport. I think many of their stronger (abv.) they do are rather underrated. They are flavorful and balanced, all while hiding much of the abv. and keeping a great drinkability.
