BückDich (4618), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle: Pours a hazy mahogany color with a thick off-white head and a thick sheet of lacing. The nose is fresh with lots of orange, spice and lemongrass along with a toasty malt background. The flavor is light and balanced; very little hop bitterness, a toasty pale malt note and a nice crispy hop flavor. Most of the hops are dry hops and it makes a nice San Diego style pale ale. Fresh and nice!
Immy (1652), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 4, 2009 Bomber from Jake65 - thanks! Crystal clear golden amber with an off white head. Looks to be well carbonated. Nose is nice - grapefruit and floral aromas, some grass and a light toasted malt. Resiny flavor, grapefruit rind and light maltiness. Some woody notes come through late, as a light burn is deep in the throat - is it the hops or alcohol? Dunno. This is damn tasty! Bitter, dry, lingering grapefruit rind finish. Excellent webby lace. msc51671 (4), , Washington, USA does not count Jan 3, 2009 Golden Amber color, nice dense white head that lasted the whole pint. The aroma was very weak imo but the taste and palatte were very good. A floral hoppy taste with an easy refreshing palatte. 2008 is my first taste of this ale, so no impressions from previous years. Bottled, 22oz. riversideAK (1948), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 15, 2008 Floral aroma with some grapefruit rinds and some leafy hops as well. Pours amber with a thin head. Some funky cat box notes are picked up in the flavor as well as some grapefruit skin. Hoppy but not as fresh or as juicy as last years version. Kind of average and maybe a bit noring. acrdz (4535), Boulder, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle. Hazed amber. Wet celery and mossy mint nose. The vegetal notes that I tend to find unpleasant in many harvest ales are especially strong in this one. Body is light, spritzy, soft. Flavor is fresh wet cucumber and celery flavored pine-heavy hops. Feels messy and disjointed. Little to no support for what come across as weak hops. jake65 (1355), Meridian, Idaho, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Amber pour with a medium sized beige head. Sticky bits of lacing. Sweet and citrus in the nose with some florals. Tastes a bit sweet, but floral hop based. Somewhat meddled with a bit of rye? Good, but I’m not quite sure about this overall...
