3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour and earthy aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Pours a hazy mahogany color with a thick off-white head and a thick sheet of lacing. The nose is earthy and piney with a bunch of chinooks and that fresh centennial note. The flavor is light and balanced; nice hop bitterness, toasted malts and a nice crispy hop flavor. Clean and fresh finish, nice fresh hops.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
As always, working through a backlog of reviews here. Bottle from a grocery store in my hometown during a visit. Poured orange with an unexpectedly large white head that faded slowly and left nice lacing. Smells of floral and citrus hops with a light biscuit background. Taste is more biscuit and caramel malts with a more muted floral and citrus hop quality. Average IPA, this year’s version was much better.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber poured into shaker. Bought at Fred Meyer (they have a bitchin beer selection, actually--huge bomber selection). Spicy, piney, floral, cinnamon (??) aromas. Could be more assertive. Pours a hazy orange hue with a nice looking rocky head that dissipates fairly quick, leaving a constant layer of foam on the surface and some nice decorative lace. Taste is a little sweet at first and finishes a little bitter (pretty low on the bitterness end for this style it seems) and alcoholic. Hoppy, but nicely balanced out with the malt. I was hoping for a hop explosion, actually, something like Oskar Blues’ Gubna. Maybe this is past its peak. Carbonation is high, mouthfeel is oily, body is medium. A pretty good beer; I wish I would have bought it as soon as it was released, however, to truly experience that fresh hop taste at its absolute fullest peak.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shipped to my by my wife from her trip to Portland this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a large yellow-white head that produced some lacing. The aroma was faint and sweetish with notes of pine, grapefruit, lemon and caramel. The flavor was bitter and tart with moderate notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, nut and sweetish malts. the finsih was long with lemon and grapefruit dominating. Medium body. Pleasant but somewhat subdued.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle- Pours dark amber with a nice creamy white head, aroma is fresh clean hops and very pleasant. The taste is mellow bitter with little malt (the way i like my IPA’s),and in the aftertaste i taste pine and maybe even some Marijuana. It seems like everybody is doing these fresh hop ales that Sierra Nevada started, but this is the first that I actually taste raw hops, very weird and interesting. This fresh hop is great but not excellent, for an excellent one try the Sierra Nevada Estate Harvest, utterly spectacular.

Bottle courtesy of kenb in the Mystery Swap v4.0. Pours a lightly hazed red hued orange amber with a medium sized beige head. A touch of sweet malt, slightly metallic, toasted marshmallows. Medium bodied, earthy and spicy. Finishes up with a spicy bitterness and a bit more sweetness.

Nose is orange/pine, some fine malt too, copper, small custard head. Flavour is bursting with orange hops, lots of malt as well. Medium bodied, very well balanced, quite bitter! Great example! Thanks Derek.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 22-oz bomber pours a semi-clear orange amber colored brew with a thick off-white head that really sticks around. Aroma of grapefruit, a hint of lemon zest, caramel malt and some tart berries. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of hop bitterness to go around and a hint of caramel malt, Finish is semi-dry, a touch gritty with a grassy hop and light caramel malt aftertaste. Not as citrusy as 2008 but still a solid IPA.
