3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gash (4) - Quincy, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 6, 2006 does not count
One of the first IPA’s I’ve had and one of the best so far. It’s everything an IPA should be. Great nose and great color. Tried this as a 6 oz. sample at a small bar in Boise, Idaho. You get to choose 8 samples to get on a tray and this is the one the really made me smile. I kept going back to it and it really stood out. I could drink it any time.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 WISEGUY572 (1360) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 3, 2006
Five hops is at least two kinds of hops too many. Some Cascade and Chinook, providing some citrus / orange / grapefruit and hint of pine. Other hops provide a hint of floral and some bitter finish. Some malt, some this, some that ... no clear focus, no clear mental image after a few seconds. Enjoyable, sure, worked better with barbecue than lone star, but simply nothing special as an IPA.
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jackbocracken (36) - Washington, USA - NOV 2, 2006
Clean, crisp, captures the IPA style quite well. Heavy on the floral flavors, a bit light on body, but enough malt that it’s not astringent. I like it.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kwoeltje (1765) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - OCT 31, 2006
(bottle) hazy orange with generous off white head. Citrus hops aroma. Flavor of citrus hops. Middle of the road IPA
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 theisti (2371) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - OCT 30, 2006
Bottle. Hazy sunset orange pour. Aroma of hops is big, though tasted is a bit more muted than I would have expected. Good solid IPA.
3.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 StephenWade (28) - Hoover, Alabama, USA - OCT 26, 2006
Bottle. Cloudy honey color, small white head. Smell: remeniscent of hot, homemade apple pie. Yet still smells like a beer. Very spicey aroma. Taste: a different sensation on every part of the palate. Well-rounded, with nice, biting hops at the end. A little more body on the front of the palate would make add a point to this beer, but overall, very enjoyable.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 mattcoats (47) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - OCT 25, 2006
Maybe I got a bad batch of Bridgeport, but I tried three bottles of this stuff, and it seemed that either everyone of them was tainted, or I just cant agree with the previous raters. There was almost no aroma to this beer, there was very little body to the beer and it must have a very low IBU because this tasted more like a pale ale than an IPA. Definitely not the "great" beer others had described.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 harrisoni (9608) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 24, 2006
On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. You can’t always choose milestone beers, but I am pleased that this is 2500. I love the beers from the PNW so a solid exponent of the IPAs from that part of the world is perfect. Hazy gold with a lasting off white head. Enjoyable hop aroma. Grapefruit aroma, slightly sticky hop, some sherbert. Good malt hop balance. Still a huge hop finish, but more manageable than some. Really rather drinkable.
