3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheRealMGD (356) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - JAN 5, 2011
Tap @ BridgePort. I love this IPA! On cask, in the bottle, on tap @ the brewpub or somewhere else, it is consistently great. Cloudy orange pour with a short, creamy head fading quickly and leaving heavy lace. Hoppy nose with resinous notes. Starts off with resin and citrus hops with an underlying, solid toasty malt body. This continues into the middle, with a trace of hay and umami entering, then proceeding to the bitter, faintly caramel sweet finish. Medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation and a hint of late hop oiliness. Not the absolute best IPA I’ve had, but very solid, tasty and reliable. A favorite.

Bottle from my bro in Illinois - thanks ck1! Pours a yellowish orange (lemonade & tea????) with many fine bubbles and almost no head. Aroma is somewhat faint sweet fruit and bitter citrus. Flavor is bitter lemony hops with very little malt presence. Some bitterness in the finish, a bit light. Nice summer brew after mowing the lawn?

Pours a cloudy pale orange. The nose is not as fragrant as one would expect from a IPA. Some floral and citrus aromas. The flavor is tongue tingling with a upfront lemon citrus kick. The dryness lingers a bit. A prototypical IPA that I can find no faults in. Paired great with some spicy jambalaya.

What an excellent IPA, bottle-poured just after Thanksgiving. Classic gold color and a media body; spruce and herbal tastes thanks to the hops; a fine mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Thank you, Peter Evans, for the gift bottle(s).
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1616) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 22, 2010
Bottle at Portland airport. Big zesty and citrus aromas, oranges, peaches, floral but something is off and yes I’ve done an air test and no one has food near me. The initial impressions of awsomeness faded quickly. Still I enjoy. Good caramel. I haven’t had an IPA in a week! Big bitterness for 5.5%, a bit watery after 10 mins out of the bottle. Some pine, sharp tart citrus, lame peach and lemon, caramel, not much else. Apparently my standard are too high.

12 oz bottle - I remember when this used to be THE hoppy IPA. Not so much anymore. It obviously hasn’t changed, but it set the bar that many other IPAs have leaped over. Many pale ales are this hoppy now. Still a good beer, though.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 slitcher (261) - Freeport, Illinois, USA - OCT 16, 2010
12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Slight floral hop aroma and grains. Slight grapefruit bitterness wth a thin body.I’m thinking this bottle may have been sitting around for a while, not much hop flavor at all. Not impressed.
