3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2005 Citric hop aroma with a touch of bready malts. Slightly hazy gold, with a webby head. Interesting soft palate is the first noticeable trait, with a lingering piney and firmly bitter finish. Long hoppy aftertaste. Malts not really there, just enough to give it some semblance of balance.

OK, this beer falls short of the classic "IPA" style, it’s a bit too light and has a very fresh hop aroma that says "pale ale" when you first open it. That being said, it has a great bitter finish and is a wonderful beer for anyone that loves hops, all it’s lacking is some of the complex malty taste of a conditioned IPA.

Golden color looks nice but generally I like darker looking IPA. Nice palate though. Not my favorite IPA but definitely acceptable!

UPDATED: APR 11, 2003 One of my favorite IPAs. Great, round character and a perfect hop/malt balance. Good aroma and the citrusy, fruity tastes really come through. Attractive color in the glass too. There is an oily characteristic to the beer that really blends the malt and hops together.

I guess I like my IPA more over the edge. This is not a bad beer in its own right, but Diamond Knot or Bigtime’s Decade IPA is more to my liking.

Medium gold color, small head. Malty and very hoppy. Full flavored IPA. Nice balance. Round mouthfeel. Smooth. Hoppy yet not too bitter. Firkin style beer, secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives this beer a smoother carbonation. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

One of the best heads I’ve ever seen on an IPA. Other than that, I did not like this beer so much. The only other beer I have had with more grapefruit in aroma and flavour was Rogue Brutal Bitter. This tasted and smelled like ruby red, but surprisingly lacked bitterness almost completely. Sweet. I don’t like grapefruit juice. But if you do, you may like this beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
One of my favorite IPA’s. I like the citrus aroma, and the way it comes through on the palate. It’s pleasantly hopped, but it doesn’t blow you away.

5/09/02: Slightly fruity quality to the hop flavor and aroma...fine golden color...Pleasant initial hoppy explosion dissipates rapidly; finishes dry...just enough malt for good balance. On balance quite good but lacking that Nth degree of distinctiveness. Re-Rate 8/14/02: Fruit tones in aroma more in evidence this time around, and hazy late-afternoon-golden-sun color is very fine indeed. Good head & lace---a very handsome ale. Citrusy quality also more evident this time in initial flavor burst and in finish. Still wish it had a little more ’bottom-end’ support for balance, but this is still very flavorful stuff.
