3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 mango peel with moldy biological growings settling unsemetrically clumpy...mango juice joined with subtle pineapple and orange bombarding the nose...mango infested hop rootings stinging my senses...fizziness getting in the way...which is seldom experienced here...mango peels dancing like wind-confused leaves...cold, dry and staccato

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Autumn-golden, slightly hazy due to bottle conditioning, moderately carbonated. Citrusy hop aroma, lemon rind, and lightly floral. Light bodied, citric bitterness, undercut by a touch of sweetness. Well balanced, and quite good.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2003 great frothy white head. excellent carbonation. Nice and hoppy all around, jost as one could expect I suppose. some undertones of malty sweetness creep through, especially at the end. Turns smoother and sweeter as it goes down

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 Nice-looking beer, and I like its smooth and natural carbonation. A subtle yeasty flavor (white cake and bread dough) blends well with nips of yeast esters (lemongrass). Blend of hops exudes notes of flowers and citrus, followed by a snappy-bitter finish that isnít too strong. 5.5 ABV cuts well through the beerís earthy wholesomeness, giving it some depth. Pleasant IPA. Easy to find and relatively inexpensive, too.

I gotta agree with Kyrz on this one. Itís an excellent IPA, it has both an aroma and strong taste of citrus. Thanks kyzr for sending this one my way - it made my day.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2003 re-rate: After a few more of these, I still find it a great beer, but I was young and needed time to think more about my score. I sometimes forget how damn good this beer is. The citrus that hits you is beyond heaven. With the finish as bitter pure joy. Great looking beer in a glass, with a great head that will last! A must try.

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. A hazy golden color with a bubbly white head. A citrus hop aroma that is not overpowering. This IPA actually tries to balance the malt and hops and does a pretty good job, but it reminds me more of a Pale Ale. It is smooth and easy to drink without a strong bitter aftertaste.

Extremely clean and crisp. Light in body but heavy in taste. Similar to Stone with less assertiveness of hop.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2005 Citric hop aroma with a touch of bready malts. Slightly hazy gold, with a webby head. Interesting soft palate is the first noticeable trait, with a lingering piney and firmly bitter finish. Long hoppy aftertaste. Malts not really there, just enough to give it some semblance of balance.

OK, this beer falls short of the classic "IPA" style, itís a bit too light and has a very fresh hop aroma that says "pale ale" when you first open it. That being said, it has a great bitter finish and is a wonderful beer for anyone that loves hops, all itís lacking is some of the complex malty taste of a conditioned IPA.
