KINGPIN is a full-flavored, red-colored ale that uses a rarely-grown Willamette Valley Hop varietal known as Liberty Hops from fourth generation hop farmer John Annen of Annen Bros. Farm in Silverton, Oregon. Jeff and his team of brewers also used rye and caramel malt leading to a unique flavor profile; triple-hopped for bitter aroma and a unique dry-hopped character.

Easily one of the best tasting beers I have ever had. What a surprise! A must try!

On tap at McNellie’s Oklahoma City. Pours a clear orange. Moderat beige head with good retention and moderate lacing. Mild aroma of swet dried fruits and caramel. Flavor is fruity, with a nice dose of tropical fruit hoppiness to go along with the caramel sweetness. Dry finish and a little undercarbonated for my taste. I think it’s a better beer than what the overall rating above would indicate. But that said, it’s also not a beer I’m going to go out of my way to get again.

12 oz. bottle poured to a sampler at a local tasting benefit at 20West Liquors in Lombard, IL. Showed a brown/copper hue with modest, off white foam that quickly reduced to a ring and film, while leaving a few streaks and spots of lacing. The aroma was mainly caramel, a touch of sweetness, light herbal hints, and light citrus and esters. The flavor added some smooth malt, brown sugar sweetness, medium hop bitterness, and a finishing dryness. Not overly "strong" but a decent Amber.

12 oz. bottle- Pours a beautiful clear ruby red with a nice medium off white head, good lacework. The aroma is sweet malt, but you do detect a fair amount of hops, cherries are also present. The taste is dry and bitter up front, with the sweet malt afterwards. The dry bitterness almost overpowers all other flavors, but I like it, still very good. Body is medium, carbonation is moderately high, finish is dry and bitter. I have had great double red ales (grand teton pursuit of hoppiness) and not so great (ninkasi double red), and this seems to fall right in the middle, Decent but not great.

Interesting aroma, caramel, heavy malt, sweet almost except for the hops showing through. Appearance is a nice red. Taste is again interesting. Initially very malty almost sweet then finishing with a more hoppy bitterness. Overall a little different and not bad at all.

Bottled. Pours a clear red with a rocky white head. Fruity aroma with phenolic notes behind caramel sweetness. A bit sweet, with some herbal characteristics. Bitter ending that intensifies as the beer warms.

Clear deep copper color, steady creamy beige head. Light fruity-berryish aroma. Suprisingly light body for this ABV and OG. Fullers-like nutty, snappy flavors. Caramel and some alcohol. Quite English, like UK style strong ale.
