Purchased at Market of Choice in Ashland, Oregon, the poured a rich amber with a medium sized beige head and good lacing. Nose. is malty with floral hops. Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is rich and full of interesting character wit malts, rye, flowers, and there is a nice bitter finish. Lots to like here.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
First of all let me say I like dry beer and wine, champagne etc.
Dry and rye: don’t expect anything fancy.
Better ice cold and in a bottle if you ask me.
Nice strong iron bite from the rye; caramel malt helps the balance.
Dry hops and plenty of them for a good hop flavor.
Color? doesn’t really matter to me but the red/gold is appealing.
Plenty of alcohol to get you going.
Not too bitter and has a clean refreshing finish; no aftertaste.
Easy drinking well hopped ale with a definite kick.
I prefer it over IPA.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and a hint of fruittiness with a smooth dry moderatly bitter lingering fruity finish.

12oz bottle 3/23/11 (Courtesy of RSRIZZO)-48° in Shaker-Pours a medium amber with a big tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and some hops. Taste of caramel, malt, hops, citrus, and some bitterness. This medium bodied brew is not bad but not my cup of beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz Bottle – Gravity Beer Market – Olympia, WA
Reddish amber in color, clear with a thin head. Hops where floral and light fruit. Big malt bomb this brew was. The hops are taken over by the malt sweetness. This was a easy drinking brew.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Aroma was some citrus hops but was not as apparent as expected. Poured a clear amber color with a medium off white head. Hops not a assertive. Can taste a spicy rye note. Sweet malts. Dry finish. Not bad but not too interesting. The alcohol is well hidden. Easy to drink.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle poured into a Shaker at 45°. Color is a clear amber with good carbonation and a small tight off white head. Aroma is a spicy hop scent. It has a lighter medium body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor comes in with a mild sweet malt flavor, followed by a nice hop spice and a bright bitterness. In the after taste the bitterness and spice flavor hang on, yet ends with a hard candy like taste. Overall it pretty good for an amber but has that candy like taste on the end.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a pretty decent looking ruby red color. Aroma is strong caramel and toffee with a little bit of hay hops. Flavor is a little off on the bittering profile. Too metalic and not balanced with enough malt body or chewy grain. Interesting hop varietal here I have not experienced much before. Reminds me much of an english style hop with the grassiness and hay aspects. Metallic flavor profile not complementing well though.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A triple hopped beer, where have I seen that before?
It pours a clear amber/red with a frothy white head that dissipates with a bit of lacing.
The smell is very sweet in the aroma. Very basic actually, not much hops at all. It has a little bit of candied orange and vanilla icing, not what i was expecting.
The flavor is sweet and tangy with a medium bitterness. It is mostly malt-driven and the malts just are super flat, they do nothing to compliment the hops. The hops are mainly citrusy but also a bit tangy. There is a hint of vegetal bitterness in the finish.
I had a NN last night and can’t help but compare the two, this one pales.

Hearty caramel notes dominate a rich, yet simple straightforward malt body. Dark amber body with a creamy character. Light pine and grapefruit with a resinous touch. Good winter session.
