KINGPIN is a full-flavored, red-colored ale that uses a rarely-grown Willamette Valley Hop varietal known as Liberty Hops from fourth generation hop farmer John Annen of Annen Bros. Farm in Silverton, Oregon. Jeff and his team of brewers also used rye and caramel malt leading to a unique flavor profile; triple-hopped for bitter aroma and a unique dry-hopped character.

Bottle pours a dense dark red color with fine-bubble white head. Hoppy aroma and flavor. Medium body with coarse texture mouthfeel. Big hop flavor balance. Very filling hoppy ale. OKAY.

Poured various times in a mug, a pint glass and currently having in tulip; it pours an amber/slightly reddish colored body with a slim half finger of a white foamy head that dies and leaves barely any lacing, body is dark red; aroma is dry roasted malts and not really hoppy whatsoever; taste is pretty malty as well; somewhat easy on the palate but not that much to be honest; overall, well, its an imperial red ale so with a high ABV thatís trying to display an "American Red/Amber Ale" hey why not, not bad, but nothing mind blowing

From 355 ml bottle. Pours a clear russet red with a sudsy off-white head that thins out after a while. Aromas of caramel, raisins, lemon, spice and a hint of pine. Taste starts off with caramel malt before a firm lemon zest bitterness in the mid-palate. Lightly fruity finish with a spicy aftertaste. Like it.

330ml bottle.
Pours a hazy rusty amber with a frothy, off white head.
Nose is sweet toffee, some pineapple and citrus, and a slight tinge of alcohol.
Flavour has lots of citrus, a bit of alcohol and toffee, and a very citrus, grapefruit driven, bitter, finish.
Medium to heavy body with fairly low carbonation.
Too heavy on the alcohol notes for my tastes. Itís only 7.5%, but boy do you know it.

12oz bottle in Seattle. Deeper brownish orange, off tan head. Sweet distant hops on rich ruddy malts. Creamy, yeasty body with tart fruity hops and dry hop finish. Indistinct, but tasty enough.

Maris (1394) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - DEC 19, 2013
From a 355ml bottle on 19/12/2013. Pours a very reddy amber with the barest of heads. The aroma is primarily toffee and caramel malt. These also feature prominently in the flavour followed by a huge, lingering, dry, almost medicinal bitterness. Has a fullish body and medium carbonation. This is a big distinctive beer but lacks a bit of balance, with the bitterness just a little too harsh to make it really enjoyable.

Deep amber/red moderate cloudy. Nice lacing. Sips full with slight caramel and hop flavor. Nicely balanced brew with a higher abv. Sneaky strong!
