3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hiero (54) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 28, 2012This is like a Killian’s Irish Red on steroids. It’s full-bodied, but somewhat one-dimensional. I liked it and would try it again sometime.

This beer had a decent taste for a low price. Not a bad bargain. Everything about it was mediocre but the price made it worth getting.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RumRunner101 (412) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 9, 2013
Amber pour, white head. Aromas of candied grapefruit, wet wood and spice. Medium bodied, slightly spicy with wood and and grapefruit flavours. Also some perfumey/floral hops. I like the hop/malt profile.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Gerbeer (891) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 31, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours an orange brown with light bubbly head. Aromas of roasted malts and resin. Similar flavor with a big bitter punch.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - MAY 24, 2013
On draught @ Sail & Anchor, Fremantle. Brilliant orange copper with a tight and tidy white crown that holds. Aroma of biscuity malt, Horlicks™ and orange blossom. Similar in the mouth. Palate is pasty and oily. Cloying vitamin ’C’ tablet taste. Low grainy malt. Light body and soft in carbonation yet heavy in the finish. Claggy as it warmed; biscuity, raw dough, no balance and muddled. Long sweet finish with more orange. Not good! One to try again.

Looks like a pot of honey, no real head, just an off white ring of lace.
The aroma is massive, big fruits, banana, pine and bread dough.
Taste is quiet sweet, bready, lots of stone fruit, some tropical tones. A nice pine resin is noticeable alone with the rye bitterness, the mouthfeel is medium, but leaves a nice buttery coating on the mouth.
The finish is nicely bitter an combination of earthy hops and roasted malts, overall a nice easy drinking beer, given its alcohol.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 islay (740) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 2, 2013
12 oz. bottle. Tart, floral smell features biscuit, apricot, caramel, and cherry scents. Smells like Febreeze. Pours a clear amber/copper with a small amount of beige/taupe/cream-colored head. Light to moderate effervescence. Pretty good lacing. Startlingly dry taste features biscuit, licorice, pretzel, mineral, and light cream flavors. Low in flavor aside from the massive hops bitterness/dryness that comes through. Long, very dry aftertaste. Medium body. Lively in the palate. Easy to drink. Ordinary palate effects aside from the strong and mostly enjoyable aftertaste. I was hoping for more from this brew, as it’s my kind of beer stylistically, and it’s certainly not bad, but it’s extremely unbalanced.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sudsmeister (61) - Colorado, USA - MAY 1, 2013
This is an underrated beer that I often find on special for 6 bucks a sixer. It has a good hop/malt balance and is easy on the tongue. It makes a good chaser for the bourbons I like.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jebert (410) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - APR 25, 2013
Pours a reddish amber with a small tan head. Nose is hoppy with some malt evident. Very creamy on the palate. Hops dominate the flavor profile with a malt backbone. A good tasting beer that pairs well with sandwiches such as burgers or snacks like nuts or chips.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ComradeK (749) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - APR 25, 2013
355ml bottle. Pours a hazy ruby chestnut, with a medium off-white head, which lasts well, and leaves decent lacing. Rich toffee malt mixes with pine resin and floral hops in the aroma. Strong pine needle and resin hops up front lead into bitter grapefruit. This is smoothed out by toffee malt in the mid-palate, with some nutty flavours coming through towards the finish, which has some resurgent grapefruit hops, and leaves a nicely bitter aftertaste. This is a nice, hoppy red ale, with a deft balance between potent hops and smooth, supple malt.
