COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
KINGPIN is a full-flavored, red-colored ale that uses a rarely-grown Willamette Valley Hop varietal known as Liberty Hops from fourth generation hop farmer John Annen of Annen Bros. Farm in Silverton, Oregon. Jeff and his team of brewers also used rye and caramel malt leading to a unique flavor profile; triple-hopped for bitter aroma and a unique dry-hopped character.

pours a copper color that had a lot of smoke and a thick white head. the aroma is malts, bready, and floral hops. the flavor is more of the same. there is quite a big hop kick up front but its not overpowering. in the taste you pick up some citrus and pine. very good beer.

Deep red/orange in colour with a thin head and strong floral hops aroma. Definitely tastes like a red ale and a good one too.

Pretty good beer but not that memorable. Kinda reminded me of a red ale more than a strong ale. My friend brought it over yo cheer me up after my grandma passed so I like it more because of that.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Manzanita pint glass From: BevMo in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif. Price: $14.99 for a BevMo variety 8-pack (w/ BevMo card) Purchased: Dec. 31, 2013 Consumed: Jan. 9, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a light brown semi-hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki head. Looked a bit like a cool glass of iced tea. Above average and sporadic, but layered foamy lacing. Above average retention on the way down. Smelled that 7.50 percent ABV right away. Got caramel, toffee, rye hops, Irish cream, faint bourbon and some earthy, dirty hops. Tasted pretty much what I thought was going to taste like. Got a healthy dose of bitter rye hops, iced tea, Irish cream and grassy, earthy hops. Also some roasted nutty malts. Medium-to-full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. Not a big fan of this beer. The smell was the best part, but it went down from there.

Bottle pours a dense dark red color with fine-bubble white head. Hoppy aroma and flavor. Medium body with coarse texture mouthfeel. Big hop flavor balance. Very filling hoppy ale. OKAY.

Poured various times in a mug, a pint glass and currently having in tulip; it pours an amber/slightly reddish colored body with a slim half finger of a white foamy head that dies and leaves barely any lacing, body is dark red; aroma is dry roasted malts and not really hoppy whatsoever; taste is pretty malty as well; somewhat easy on the palate but not that much to be honest; overall, well, its an imperial red ale so with a high ABV that’s trying to display an "American Red/Amber Ale" hey why not, not bad, but nothing mind blowing

From 355 ml bottle. Pours a clear russet red with a sudsy off-white head that thins out after a while. Aromas of caramel, raisins, lemon, spice and a hint of pine. Taste starts off with caramel malt before a firm lemon zest bitterness in the mid-palate. Lightly fruity finish with a spicy aftertaste. Like it.
