3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark fruit is quickly followed by a mustiness, pungent tartness. Pours a deep ruby color with off white head. Plum, blackberry jam begins, drying out the palate in the process. Chewy and thick; almost syrupy. Alcohol warmth reminds you that this is a barleywine. Will warm you up from the inside.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy dark amber pour. Yipe - something funky in here - very fruity, reasonably hot, really almost a gummy candy flavor. What the... this is not at all what I was expecting, and I’m not a fan.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark red pour with white head, aroma and tastes include vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, with some bitter roast and some burnt caramel. Pretty good, standard malt-driven barley wine.

Bridgeport Brewing Company--Old Knucklehead Barleywine Ale--1997 Release--12 oz. Bottle--9.10% ABV. (2.0 / 5.0) Barleywine--Cloudy Rich Amber Color. Initially overpoweringly Sweet. Pours reddish brown with a creamy tan head and plenty of lace. Aromas of fresh hops, grassy, floral. Taste is rather light for a nine percent, making drinking it a bit dangerous. Slightly bitter finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06.
Poured clear reddish copper color with an average off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart fruit, malt and resin aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium tart citrus sweet flavor with a medium fruity sweet finish with a small alcohol bite of moderate duration.
Complex beer that I would share with a freind.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
1999. Bottle, this was actually a sample from a cracked bottle that someone(nameless) left in the freezer. Cloudy amber pour. Aroma of honey, wood, fruit, and some alcohol. A bit of oxidation is noticeable on the nose and the tongue. Flavor is honey, fruit and some tartness. This is good. But not fabulous.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Rather sub standard for such a big beer. Really disappointed. THe nose was rather sweet. The body was medium to full. Other than that the flavour profile was minimal and I felt more than a little ripped off. Expensive malt liquor
