3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A little light for a barleywine, but great. Malty. Seems like something Frodo Baggins would drink on the way through the Elvish realm.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark reddish brown with off white head. Aroma of cherry and alcohol. Flavor was fruity with bitter finish. Alcohol was prominent in the flavor profile...may benefit from some aging. Not my favorite Barley Wine.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
This was a surprisingly nice and mild barleywine. I donít usually like barley wines and this was really nice. I had it on the sampler at bridgeport brewery.
gotta get me some.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I have never rated ths one. Still the 2003 (with Fred on the label). Did they make a 2004? I have not seen it.
Apperance - Tawny (hehe - I finally got to use this word in a beer description) amber with smalll tiny bubble off-white head.
Aroma - Deeply maty with alcohol and some very faint hop and raisin notes.
Taste - Intensley malty at first with some hops and alcohol in the finish. Leaves me wanting another sip - which I am going to have.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bomber, bottling no. 13. Pours a rich mahogany with light mocha head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet, boozy, and slightly earthy. Some oak, vanilla, and bourbon notes come through as it warms. Oak definitely present in the taste, with bourbon, pitted fruit, and vanilla notes. Great, complex barley wine.

This is No.13. Pours a dark amber with a thin tan head that recedes to an outer ring. Smells very nice. Got hints of pine resin, spruce and even some faint banana. Intense flavors. Bittersweet with a strong alcohol finish. banana, amber, clear, frothy, tan foam, Very bittersweet flavor. Intense. Starts sweet, then a sort of bitter fruit flavor. Strong alcohol finish. Thick feel with average carbonation. Definately a big beer with alot going on.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours ruby red with a thin head. Syrupy, as expected from a barleywine. Strong aroma and flavor of caramel. Sweet with a definite hop and alcohol presence, but not so hoppy or boozy as to overshadow the malty, caramel flavors. A solid barleywine that Iíd drink again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2003 bottle. This is a good one. Pours mahogany with almost no head. Predominately bready and raisiny nose. Flavor is rich and malty, nicely balanced by the hops, not too sweet, not overly rich but rich enough, very smooth, malty, and caramelly. Not overly complex, but it does what it does well. The alcohol is very well hidden. Iím curious to compare this with a more recent vintage to see how it has mellowed with time - I would guess it has improved with age. Iíll be stocking up on this one come wintertime.
