On tap at the brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours a hazy dark brown brew with a thin light caramel head that dissolves quickly. Aroma of light coffee, mild roasted malt and a touch of flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, llight carbonated with some sweet caramel and chocolate flavors. Finish is light, slightly watery, metalic texture with a flowery hop aftertaste.

Bottled. Pour dark like expected and mediocre flavor compared to some other porters and stouts i’ve been reviewing.
Definitely worth the 7$ i paid for six bottles.

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Black with disappearing tan head. Sour dark malt aroma. Again, a bit carbonated which gave it a thin feel in mouth. Nice liquorish flavour, bit of smoke, choccy liquorice, still excellent despite the lack of fullness in mouth.

4 ounce sample at the brewpub in Portland, OR. Anise initially in the nose, which turns more chocolate-like and roasted as this warms. Small floral hops also make a brief cameo. Dark mahogany body that is partially opaque with a tan head and nice lacing. Lots of roasty chocolatey notes to start. Smooth, with minute hoppiness. Pleasant enough...a decent porter.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 zombywoof (431) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - MAR 7, 2006
Thought this porter wasn’t as assertive as some. Some chocolate and currant notes against a roasty flavor but the body was a little thin, and it lacked complexity. Not bad just not memorable.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 TheBeerLover (1019) - DC Metro Area, USA - JAN 26, 2006
Bridgeport Porter pours to a beautiful, slightly murky deep brown to black color with a bubbly tan head that fades, and a soft to slight amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is wonderful, with fragrant aromas of chocolate, coffee, and light hints of nut. The palate is soft and fat on the tongue with lots of deep dark malt flavors. Sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and just a hint of black currant fill the mouth. Bridgeport Porter finishes with more really great chocolate and coffee flavors up front, then ends with just a slight bit of roast and hop bitterness to round this beer out to perfection.
This is an outstanding domestic example of brown porter, and has really great malt character, and just enough hop character to balance. This beer is amazingly good pulled from a firkin on cask at Bridgeport’s Public House in Portland, and bottled examples are quite impressive as well.
