cathcacr (527), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 30, 2008 Just had this the first time on draft and it was delicious! They should refer to this as Bridgeport Chocolate Porter since the Chocolate aspects were most ample. TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 26, 2006 Bridgeport Porter pours to a beautiful, slightly murky deep brown to black color with a bubbly tan head that fades, and a soft to slight amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is wonderful, with fragrant aromas of chocolate, coffee, and light hints of nut. The palate is soft and fat on the tongue with lots of deep dark malt flavors. Sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and just a hint of black currant fill the mouth. Bridgeport Porter finishes with more really great chocolate and coffee flavors up front, then ends with just a slight bit of roast and hop bitterness to round this beer out to perfection.
This is an outstanding domestic example of brown porter, and has really great malt character, and just enough hop character to balance. This beer is amazingly good pulled from a firkin on cask at Bridgeport’s Public House in Portland, and bottled examples are quite impressive as well. NWHopHead99 (58), Tacoma, Washington, USA Mar 1, 2002 Bridgeport brews another fine winner of all my tastebuds! As with many of their other beers, it is a consistent, full-bodied taste that is expected and savoured. No strange undesirable hints of wierdom, and a good clean palate with which to start on the next. jamidwyer99 (49), Oregon, USA May 31, 2000 Dragon99 (57), Laramie, Wyoming, USA Nov 3, 2001 A smooth, robust porter. Sweet aftertaste. Good mouth feel. Not has much hops as other comments say but I am from Oregon! :-)
Definite chocolate aroma and flavor.
