This year’s Stumptown Tart gathers 15-pounds of Oregon marionberries, raspberries and strawberries from local growers at Willamette Valley Fruit Company for each barrel of this tasty warm weather favorite. To give a different twist to the base beer, Brewmaster Jeff Edgerton used a new malt from Great Western Malt called “Superior Pilsen”. The team is also using wheat malt for some mouthfeel, a slight permanent haze and a lighter color that should serve to accentuate any pinks and reds extracted from the berries. In addition, one-third of the base beer will be fermented with “Ardennes” Belgian yeast to give a light Belgian character and add to the complexity of the profile.

Pours a three finger pale pink head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Hazy amber/red color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Tart raspberry nose and flavor is tart raspberry and slightly sweet strawberry, hops are hidden. $5.95 for a 22oz bottle from Made in Oregon Portland, Or.

Best Bridgeport beer I've ever had. Smooth, tart. Actually has a nice berry taste. Nicely carbonated. Great all around c ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Cavie. Weird red pour with a white head. Aroma is rotten fruit and tomato juice. Taste is carbonation, spinach, and a very berry finish.

Bottle:   Pinkish hued amber, large sudsy white head, dies quickly, sparce lacing.   Candyish berry like nose, seemingly tart.   Certainly fruity, hard to discern what tho.   Also seems like a bit of cottoncandy.   A little spritzy on the tongue, more artificial like on the tongue than the nose suggests.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, comes across as pretty spritzy.   Soft mealy finish, fake fruity/berry aspects.   Pretty much what I expected.   Smells better than most tho, and the cottoncandy was an interesting touch.

Looks good, smells good, has a slight fruity tartness, but nothing else. If you’re expecting a sour beer, its like wanting warheads and getting sweet tarts instead.

Vintage 2012, 22oz bottle. Pours golden color with hints of pink. White head. Aroma of pale malts and fermented fruit. Smells sweet. Light bodied. Pale malt flavor with a unspoken essence of mixed fruit. Some strawberry and raspberry character throughout the bottle. Very nice, kinda strong for a session. (3402)

Pours hazy orange red with a tiny white head. Smells sweet, fruity, and has some Belgian yeast funk notes. Taste is sweet and fruity with a subtle touch of sour. Light-bodied with a wet, slick texture and average mouth-carbonation, BridgePort Stumptown Tart 2012 (Triple Berry) finishes with a bit of funkiness underneath the fruit.

Aroma has a strong fruity overtone with notes of strawberry and raspberry - and that must be marionberry. It pours a slightly hazy coppery amber with a fairly thick pale tan head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor has a malty core and a strong berry overtone, notes of sweetness and tartness, even a hint of woody hops. Texture has decent body and a sharp fizz that leaves a nice tingly berry finish. Pick this one!

Lots of bitter berry pits, flavor is rough and bitter, like seeds. Little to no sweetness. Aroma is very buttery, flavor is flat and rough, not smooth. Color is a slightly pinkish hue but mostly light Brown.

Appearance creates a sparkling effect on the easily dissipating head. Aroma has a mix of the berries with the light note of the yeast. Tastes like a young berry wine, the spiciness and tart from the yeast is rounded off with a mild hop. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Didn’t quit know what to expect with this one, but maybe a little more.
