COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year’s Stumptown Tart gathers 15-pounds of Oregon marionberries, raspberries and strawberries from local growers at Willamette Valley Fruit Company for each barrel of this tasty warm weather favorite. To give a different twist to the base beer, Brewmaster Jeff Edgerton used a new malt from Great Western Malt called “Superior Pilsen”. The team is also using wheat malt for some mouthfeel, a slight permanent haze and a lighter color that should serve to accentuate any pinks and reds extracted from the berries. In addition, one-third of the base beer will be fermented with “Ardennes” Belgian yeast to give a light Belgian character and add to the complexity of the profile.

It had a nice pink tint, to showcase the fruit flavor. It was nice and tart as expected.

Bomber from "Made in Oregon". Pours sort of rose amber with a slight white head. Aroma is very berry/fruites de bois sort of thing. Near med body. Flavor is very berry with hints of spice. "Light Belgian character" it is. Belgians would be proud to claim this. Finishes balanced, perhaps on the dry side, and lightly bitter - like chewing berry seeds. Delightful.

22oz bottle split with my wife. Dark pink beer with a sparse head. Flavor and aroma are quite basic - lots of fruit and earth with a sweet finish. Not really tart at all.

Pouring at Where the Wild Beers Are. Pours a clear amber with a ruby tinge. Soft cherry, sweet fruit. Light and grainy. Soft fruit, toast, malt and fruit. Fruity and with a good amount of wheat on the finish.

Nearly opaque amber color. Not the nose one would expect. Some berry fruit, but somewhat subdued. Berry essence on the palate with a decent, fizzy mouthfeel. Needs more tartness.

Amber with a cream head. Nose is tart, raspberries, lightly sour, and fruity. Smooth palate, flavor isn’t much different from the nose.

Bottle... Poured hazy orange with a white head. When held to the light, some pink highlights. Not sure why they keep making these beers, not very good. No tartness, and overly malty with cracker and biscuit characters. Mild acidity that lent towards an awkward chemical flavor. Fruit flavors meshed with drying yeast spice. Almond extract flavors, candied sweetness, medicinal, rubbing alcohol, and artificial berry flavor too.

Bottle. Pours a grapefruit pink with fizzy white head. Aroma of light mixed berries with a touch of white pepper and subtle farmhouse. Flavor is off-dry, berry, subtle malt back bone with touch of farmhouse. Light, fizzy body, kinda thin. Overall, is "A" ok....but name is mis-leading, is not tart at all.....slightly disappointing in that..
