3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 IlanMan (1015) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Pour is cloudy with a ruby color. Highly carbonated pour with a short lasting white head. Aroma of marion berries, slight oak, and slight alcohol. Flavor is well blended with natural fruit and oak. Could use a little more marion berries but could also bring that flavor our with more age. Tasty brew. Would buy again.

very sweet and fruity smelling, but it also smells a little like the other bridgeport offerings (but with fruit juice). opaque, and the color is somewhere between purple and orange (not pink like the description claims). I’m not sure what to say about the flavor? its quite tart and it tastes so much like berries i’m expecting seeds. but it tastes a little vinegary to me for some reason as well which is a disappointment. bitterness is nonexistent, there are no hop aftershocks as far as I can tell. It’s pretty good, but it’s a little too fruity for my tastes. B.

Hazy amber with slight cranberry color pour with thin white head. Pungent sour aroma, tart taste with crisp berry finish. Mouthfeel is mediocre. I don’t see anything Belgian about it; it isn’t bad but I expect more from Bridgeport.

Aight, so there was a lot of hype to this, and I’ll say I was really excited for this. The local blogs and papers were talking about New Glarus raspberry tart inspiration, lots of adjectives about this beer’s stay in the barrels before the release, about the tartness and "out on a limb" mentality. And.... Well i’m sadly very dissapointed. I was thinking, "they did this and sold it for under $5?!?", yep, and I’m sad to say it tastes like it. Flat, no head to it, the esters dull and the fruits just kinda bland. To compare this to raspberry tart would just be wrong. Yes, it is tart, but the total lack of carbonation just drains the life from this one. Mild acidity, not much to the aroma. I really wanted to like this, but it was just watery and bland. Honestly kinda tastes like McMenamins imperial ruby with more tartness or something. Maybe a bad bottle or the other few bottles I got will improve with age, we will see.

pours a deep raspberry color with a good white head. aroma is citrusy with lots of fruit and a bit earthy. first sip was quite "tart" but after a few more, my taste buds got used to the flavor. lots of citrus rolls on the tongue with a kick of ripe berries and the sweetness of honey. a strong beer at 8.3% abv, but well balanced.
