riversideAK (1462), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 16, 2008 From Bottleworks. It is more or less purple. Thin head and nice lacing. Aroma of berries, candi sugar, caramel malt, maybe funk, and some wine like qualities. Tart berries, oak, some wine, an little funky. Seems kind of thin. It has a nice smooth carbonation. Finishes with a little bit of alcohol. Nice try guys. I enjoyed it.
glkaiser (868), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 16, 2008 Hazy, water mellon jolly rancher red with small head. Vinous berry and slightly funky yeast aroma. Taste follows as the same....with some oak and minimal tartness. Love it, actually. Really wasn’t expecting much for some reason. The 8% is hidden well. Very dry finish. hopdog (4374), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2008 22oz bottle acquired in trade with riversideAK (thanks!). Poured a cloudy amberish color with a brown tint and an averaged smaller sized, pink tinged, head. Aromas of wood, some earthiness, berries, somewhat funky, some red wine, and some spices. A lot going on there and I liked it. Tastes of tart berries, vanilla, some wood, fruity, and if I reach, a trace of red wine. Light tartness with a sweet balance. Alcohol content well hidden. MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 Color is a pinkish light amber hue with little to no head. Aroma is tart and fruity - berries. Flavor is a very nice blend of sweet fruity / malty notes - light caramel and blackberries with just enough tart to balance it and leave a light sour aftertaste. Would be a wonderful ’beginner beer’ for those interessted in puruing Flemish beers. Well done! theisti (971), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 14, 2008 22 oz bottle courtesy of bvc. Pour is deep orange golden with a thin white head. Aroma of berry, dry pinot noir and the oak in the background. Some weird almost bathroom odor comes out of nowhere after a few seconds. I won’t go into much detail on this. Taste is sharp acidic berries initially, very sweet and bright. Tart, without being sour. The red wine and oak come through after the berries. Decent, but a little dirty and woody on the finish. Thanks for this one Brandon, it was fun to try! Gregis (848), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bomber shared by theisti. Thanks for sharing this with us, Tim. Pours a cloudy raspberry brownish color with a thin pinkish head. The nose is a blend of funky dark berries (blackberry?), light red wine and funky yeast notes. Medium-bodied and tart with a dry finish. The flavor is of dark berries, lightly tannic red wine and a dry, lightly woody finish. It’s an interesting beer, but it’s not spectacular.
