We’re celebrating three decades of craft brewing in Oregon the only way we know how, by brewing three distinctive beers. This dry-hopped pale showcasing crystal hops is beer #1 in our series - made to honor the hop revolution that ignited the craft brewing movement thirty years ago.

12 oz single bought from Fred Meyer in North Salem. $1.19 Nice golden coloured ale with an inch thick off white head. Handsome. WEll hopped aroma the crystal hops are not my absolute favourite but this is fine enough. Taste is also nice with good lemon hints..tastes very fresh. Malts are there but in the back. Simple but nice. Good palate properly carbonated and very likable A nice simple APA..would do great in June. I think this is a return to form by Bridgeport...look forward to more in the series.

From a bottle. This one’s crisp, for sure, and lacks a lot of the pungent hop flavor in some of their other brews (most notably, obviously, their IPA). That light flavor allows a tinny note to come through -- the note I’ve now come to identify with all Bridgeport brews. Other than that, it’s got a nice grassy hop presence that overpowers the light malts and lingers for a bit. Not too shabby, but not something I’d opt for most days.

Bottle poured a clear gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of straw, grapefruit zest, earthiness and light lemon zest. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread and light lemon zest with a crisp dry finish.

Thanksgiving 11-27-14 bomber. Nothing exceptional. Good mellow pale ale. Decent hops, white foam head that slowly dissipates. Moderate carbonation, some grain aftertaste. 7.3 bd, 7.5 kevmar

12 oz bottle pours hazy pale amber with a slight pinkish tint. Decent head with very good lacing. Nice, appropriately hoppy aroma. Flavor follows but is stronger, with a bolder hop presence and enough sweet malts to temper the bitterness. Feel: lively but not harsh, medium-high carbonation. Medium body. O: Excellent for style ... and above average for Bridgeport; get one while you can. I look forward to the remaining 2 pieces of the trilogy.

Keg at the taproom, 09/11/14. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is pine, mandarin, grapefruit, citric rinds, juicy hops. Taste comprises apricot, tangerine, straw, melon, citricana, pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid APA - why the low scores? Perhaps better on tap?

Sample bottles provided for review. It pours a pale stream, settling in the glass to a sort of light gold color under a one-inch foamy head. The smell in the glass is full of fresh hops, a bit floral, but mostly citrus. The taste has mild malts, pretty light like a pale lager but for the slight fruitiness of an ale ferment. Hops tend more to the bitter side on the tongue, more spicy than the citrus in the nose. The hop brings a nice sensory impressions to the nose, but it still does its hoply duty of counteracting malt sweetness. Alcohol becomes a bit noticeable, even at its stated level of 5.2% abv.

This is a tolerably decent pale ale. It pours slightly cloudy and orange and is topped by a long-lasting, thick and fine-bubbled head. The hop character here is decidedly grapey w/ a bit of plaster-like mineral notes and some floral tones. This is ever so slightly tart and lightly sweet. It finishes light on the palate w/ some solid bitterness and a bit of lemon zest and earth. Not really a standout example of the style but drinkable and somewhat tasty.
