Sampled at 10/13/2012 at GABF. This spiced ale pours a light gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, hint of pumpkin spices. A medium bodied spiced ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. A touch sweet overall and the spices seem a little muted. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2012 Pours a copper color with a medium white head that leaves ok lacing. Smells of caremel, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a few other spices. Tastes of all the things I mentioned in the nose and slightly hoppy on the back end. Mouthfeel is medium with light corbonation. This is a pretty average harvest ale. Pretty good use of spices without actually using pumpkin.

On the nose, notes of nutmeg and ginger spice appear on top of a sweet caramel candy backdrop. Flavor is again gingery nutmeg spices but the caramel backbone isnít so sweet. The considerable hop bitterness in combo with the astringency from the spice makes this beer almost undrinkable for me, without food. Along with some food it brought out some sweetness and a nice overall pumpkin pie flavor.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a slight foamy off-white head. Aroma is something from my childhood. Canít come up with a name for it. Med body. Flavor is a sharp spice which drains away to reveal something like pie spice. Finishes fairly dry, and there is that strong spice. Actually I think I prefer this new approach to the standard pie spice. Itís a pretty tasty brew.

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a amber-hued body with top-notch clarity topped with an inch of lightly bubbly, slightly beige suds.

Smell: A little hint of caramel, but with no implied sweetness. Tossed spices, a little bit of hops. Even at this early stage, youíre left wondering if this is really what they were going for.

Taste: Middling, unappealing malts with a faint, low level of sweetness. Piney quality adhered to the heady spices and bitterness. Spicy finish with no more than a vague touch of malts ever showing.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Very one note, and a bad note at that. I struggled to even get halfway through the twelve ounces. Is this what they were going for?!

bottle. clear amber with a small head. fruity nose with red apple, peach, nutmeg. spices of a pumpkin beer over a pale ale. lots of floral hop notes in the finish. bready character also. medium body. it seems like a pretty good beer underneath without the spices. itís not a coverup.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin), with light notes of allspice/cinnamon and gasoline. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Sour, kinda fusel, and a dirty aftertaste. A drain pour and no fooliní.
