Bottle, 12oz. Itís an almost clear one, amber in color and topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is sure spiced, nutmeg and clove notes, as well some caramel maltyness in the back. Thereís some sweetness and bitterness going on in the flavor, but the spices win. Dried fruits, caramel and a touch of pine cones as well. Full to medium body, soft carbonation. Feels quite sweet, but dries up towards the end, which is also mostly spiced. Not sure... I think itís a fine brew, but if the spices were toned down a bit, it would be quite drinkable as well. 130829

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a slight foamy off-white head. Aroma is something from my childhood. Canít come up with a name for it. Med body. Flavor is a sharp spice which drains away to reveal something like pie spice. Finishes fairly dry, and there is that strong spice. Actually I think I prefer this new approach to the standard pie spice. Itís a pretty tasty brew.

Bottled. Poured fiery reddish-orange with a densely-packed beige head. The aroma picked up nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon over sweet caramel and a touch of molasses.. a bit too focused on the spicage, but I enjoyed them all. The flavor found bright cinnamon and nutmeg, and some sour notes over molasses.. a bit sour on the finish too.. this wasnít that well balanced. Light-medium bodied with only an OK feel/flow.. meh.

Bottle: † Deep amber, reddish, moderate foamy light beige head, spotty lacing. † Bright fragrant citrusy nose, candle like as well. † Best I can say is very sweetened Ruby Red Grapefruit with a spicy fragrant candle. † Sweet citrusy rind up front, with a soft spicy backside. † Not as sharp or bright as one would think given its spicy and bright grapefruit on the nose. † The spices feel like very faint nutmeg and cinnamon, dull, not too sweet or vibrant. † Fragrant candle remains. † Tastes a little artificial. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † Little bit of a mealy finish, lingering Ruby Red Grapefruit. † Not bad, but a little bit of an odd duck with the Grapefruit and candle fragrance.

Ernest (6200) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin), with light notes of allspice/cinnamon and gasoline. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Sour, kinda fusel, and a dirty aftertaste. A drain pour and no fooliní.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark reddish pour with thin slightly off white head, aroma has notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, some slight hops, caramel, toffee, hints of earth, spice notes in there as well, smells pretty well balanced. Taste is a mix of sweet caramel, toffee, lots of cinnamon, ginger, finishing with some hints of earth, slight bitter grassy hops, finishing fairly dry and spicy.
