Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival, September 2007. Pale gold colour. Entirely flat, leading to a dull mouthfeel. Prominent toffee and butterscotch in the aroma, which was certainly not appropriate for the style. Touches of grassy hop on the palate but its all a bit thin. Not properly conditioned din my view. A shame as this was my first beer from this quite new brewery. Re-rate if possible. Shown as 3.8% in the festival list but 3.9% on the brewery website.

Cast at peterborough beer fest. Alround rating: Appley, toffee apple, nutty, like warm green king ipa, perhaps off? Dusty yeast.

Cask-conditioned at the Wellington, Birmingham 12/08/08. Golden coloured with a slight white head. Grainy, slightly sweet malt aroma. Flavour of biscuit malt with a touch of summer fruit and a long, bitter finish. Drinkable.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Clear gold with thin white head. It is a basic golden bitter with some butter/caramel. Little bit of nettle/caramel. Thin and dull.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Market Porter. Slightly hazy blonde-ish colour with a thin head. Lovely creamy hoppy nose. Dusty hop flavour with delicate toffee notes and a good dollop of vanilla but no particular sweetness. Bitter edge on the finish. Drinks above its strength. Enjoyable and quaffable. Decent drop if you ask me.
