COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Blowhard Pale is an American-style pale ale with a bracing citrus aroma, and crisp Cascade hop character. It is the perfect accompaniment to spicy foods or fish and chips.

From a 330ml bottle on 15/5/2010. Pours a slightly opaque golden orange colour with a lasting head. The aroma is floral and fruity (citrus and grapefruit) with some grassiness. Flavour wise, you get sweet fruitiness, with some honey and caramel malt. Finishes with an assertive grapefruit bitterness. Comes across as a bit of an APA/IPA hybrid. Quite an unusual brew but a pretty good one.

Tap & Bottle - nice head and orange in color. Citrus aroma. Light flavours of straw and Cascade hops. Good easy drinking beer that my wife even liked.

Bottle. Hazy golden orange pour with a short, fluffy white head that quickly diminishes to surface cover. Hoppy aroma has notes of passionfruit, orange, grapefruit, freshly cut grass and caramel. Flavour is also very hoppy, featuring lots of citrus, but the malt is more noticeable here, mixing more sweet caramel notes with the hoppy bitterness. This is a very nice and well balanced APA, one of the best local efforts I have tried in quite a while.

Tap. Tasty, but not very strong. Aroma is floral, with a touch of band-aid. Flavour is sweet with light bitterness, and it has average duration. Palate is oily, and it has a medium body. Yellow colour, with a creamy long-lasting head.

Bottle. Pours a golden orange with inch thick creamy head. Aromas are a little restrained however the cascade hops are quite apparent with the usual citrus aromas. There is also a little malt sweetness and caramel. Flavours are a little sweet initially with some citrus flavours thanks to the hops. More malt through the middle with some hop bitterness on the finish. Nicely balance beer.

Bottle. Hazy yellow, very large white head. Vigorous bubbles. Looks like a wheat beer. Dry aroma with zesty grapefruit. Taste is initially dominated by citrus. Some hay-like malts, but feels a bit thin. Once the citrus kick wears down a little the second half of the bottle started to taste more balanced and interesting.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with a medium white head. The aroma and flavour is sweet malty with citrus and grassy hops. Light medium bodied with good hop bitterness in the finish. Not an overly exciting APA but enjoyable enough on a warm day in Boomtown.

330ml bottle. Light honey colour with a decent dense foam head. Lively in the glass with citrus aroams that dominate and some sweet aromas in the background. Metallic bitterness to the flavour, not unpleasant.

Vibrant golden pour, towering (too big) persistent head, lively carbonation. Light hoppy aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, green apples, limes and artificial lemon. Biscuity malt underneath but not enough. Could use some more crystal in there. Lemon and lime definitely transfers through to taste, followed by some sweet malt before a lingering but non-descript bitterness takes over. Too much carbonation.
