COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Rethymnian Dark.
Note: Name changed (temporarily?) because the authorities suddenly decided that they couldn’t use geographical names for beer until the law that allows that is out.

(Bottled, BBE 12/2007, thanks to my sister) Opaque, darkish orange with a small, lacy and partly lasting head. Lightly flowery aroma of partly roasted malt. A bit ashy, dry and malty flavor with little hops and some cardboard. Seems not to be in a prime condition, although not past BBE. Light to medium-bodied with quite low, slightly fizzy carbonation. Looks like a Belgian tripel, but the flavor is unfortunately from a dull and tasteless dunkel. A fresher bottle could have gotten a better score.

Argonian (51) - Athens, GREECE - APR 14, 2012
Bottle. Pours a orange-red body, with a low white head that leaves almost no lacing. Weird aroma, just when I opened the bottle. Smells like soap, with notes of malt. Lyckily, it fades away after a while. Also, indifferent flavor. Medium body, oily texture. I don’t know... I’ve expected a lot more from this beer. Below average, but it can be better.

Tawny amber with a puffy white head that leaves some trails. Cinnamon and carob dark malt nose. Brown bread toast, some toffee or Werther’s Original, a saltiness, then earthy wintery spice hops. Medium, tingly, slight chew. A very light dunkel, but flavorful and drinkable. *from notes

POLK (1623) - Hørning, DENMARK - DEC 18, 2011
Sprayers you in the head by opening the patent bottle. when its called dark I expect that it is brown or darker. This beer is more orange. The taste is mild and hoppy and well rounded. a good thirst-quenching beer, which despite the name is not very much "dark" purchased on Crete

Hermod (1687) - Vantaa, FINLAND - SEP 26, 2011
33cl bottle, flip-top. BBE 01/2012. From supermarket in Platanias, Crete. Poured sl. hazy amber color with a fluffy, lasting head. Caramel aroma, some hints of coffee as well. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Finish is long and strong of coffee. Thin, but overall quite pleasant.

NosirIwont (1586) - Aalborg Vestby, DENMARK - SEP 9, 2011
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a big off-white/beige head. Bit of lacing. Sweet cereal aroma with notes of cooked vegetables and some bread deep in the background. As it warms it develops a tart note, which feels like the beer’s infected. Flavour is sweet cereals/malt with a somewhat spicy note. Bitter (in an annoying way) and tart finish with cooked vegetable notes lingering. A bit too much carbonation. Bad. 26.08.11.

Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2011
Light amber colour with some haze. The aroma is lightly toasty. Toasty palate with light caramel and hints of toast. That’s just a lot of toast, far too much.

gunnar (2638) - Sandnes, NORWAY - AUG 3, 2011

rickgordon (3764) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 20, 2011
Bottled. Dark orange colour with creamy head. Weird beer again from Rethymno. A really ugly looking beer. Doughy nose, oxidized hops and not much of dark malts either. Just dough and faint caramel. Astringent. Old chocolate. Low bitterness.

meerbier (912) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - JUL 16, 2011
Bottle@Hotel. Malts, herbs and a hint of oxidization in the aroma. Cloudy, red/brown, off-white irregular tiny head, no lace. Sweet, dark malts, hint of sourness, cardboard. Sparkling. Very German but badly done.
