MesandSim (4713), Highgate, Greater London, England Mar 9, 2008 A Mes rate: Graviask at the Blackfriars.
Golden brown with a thin white head. Nice fizzy hop aroma and some really good malt that is waaaay in the background but clearly there. Flavour-wise, damn. This is a top class bitter. Really interesting. As Ian says, you need to work at it but there are plenty of rewards in there. Excellent hops, similar malt, lovely fruity notes. Chewy caramel and a really moreish citric finish. Great stuff. harrisoni (5605), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 23, 2008 Cask gravity at Bricklayers Arms 2nd Annual Yorkshire BF 08. Gold with slight haze, lasting off white head. Looks in good condition. Candied fruit peal aroma. Good carbonation. Bit of toffee malt in mouth. Rather a good aroma, good toffee/lemon mix. Good condition and a rather good beer. Probably the best beer of the day. downender (1785), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Feb 21, 2008 Cask conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 21/2/08. A fairly stand best bitter. Deep gold in colour with no head. Slightly sweet aroma with some earthy hops. Flavour of caramel with a dry finish. Ok, if not memorable.
