COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beehive is a refreshingly gentle ale, with a honey-gold color and just a suggestion of sweetness in the finish.

Bright orange-yellow and opaque. Little overt flavor, but a subtle citric character. Smooth. Not noteworthy. Their least impressive effort.

Bottle courtesy of Blipp, shared at Andys. Pours a light golden yellow body with fizzy white lacing. Aroma is sweet honey (maybe), wheat, and light grain. Mouthfeel is a bit watery and thin with notes of honey, grass, wheat, grain, and light spice.

Bottle at a tasting at Andy’s. Pours a very lightly hazed gold with a thin white head. Soft wheat and grain with a touch of sweet floral honey. Medium bodied, soft wheat with a bit of toast. Gentle wheat and a bit of honey into the finish. Not terrible.

Bottle shared at tasting with RB crew. Pours hazy gold with small white head. Aroma and taste of honey and wheat. Nothing really stands out in this beer, but it’s fairly drinkable.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Wheaty and sweet malty base, a hint of honey sweetness, and very low bitterness. Drinkable, but not very interesting. Which I guess is what a lot of people want from a wheat ale. I’d have liked a little more hops.

March 27th, 2011 - Returning to the beers of my alma mater, I found more nostalgia in most of these bottles than I do real memories. Bristol Brewery was the official beer sponsor and supplier for Colorado College’s many events, and there tap room was a favorite place for me and my beer inclined friend to go on a weekend for a pint above the normal grade of what was being passed around in our undergraduate dormitories. One of the most sighted beers was Bristol’s Beehive Honey Wheat. Light and refreshing, it made a lot more sense to buy a pack of this in the Fall or Spring than it did Summer, but it still had a place in my beer stash. With its cloudy, hazy golden body, it looks great on a sunny day, and smells wonderful too, exhibiting smells of honey, clear and polished and above all fresh, as well as the unique but to many unfamiliar smell of beeswax. It’s appealing, and unique. Less exciting is the flavor: flat and oddly fuzzy, with a mild wheat dimension, and the unhappy absence of honey. As a wheat beer it’s fine, but I had hoped that the fine apiary qualities in the nose would make their way to the flavor too. On this tasting, at least, that does not seem to be the case.

On tap beer is a hazy dark golden-orange color a white head mostly lasting and minimal lacing. Sweet, slightly spicy bread aroma. Light honey sweetness with hints of coriander, pepper, citrus and banana. Medium body. Dry finish.

Pours medium golden with a medium sized white head. Many large bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Smalls a bit like a skunky lager. Light sweet flavor - a bit heavy in the mouth to be refreshing at all. Not my type of beer, but some may like it.

Tap at brewery. Hazy honey gold with a thin cap head. Clean aroma of wheat bread and a semi-sweet honey tone. Taste was very clean and light, which isn’t that great but it certainly hits the mark it aims for with its 4% ABV level. Spritzy wheaty pale malt tone throughout with a mild honey sweetness more towards the finish.

Draft @ taproom. Hazy dark yellow. Phenols in the aroma, which isn’t all that exciting anyway. The flavors are pretty nice though. The balance is pretty solid, has nutty grain and honey kiss.

Ported from BA. Appearance: Yellow, like sunshine or wheat grass, and hazy. A very light head that laces nicely. Smell: Sweet honey notes backed by a strong yeasty/bready aroma. Taste: Slightly bitter, yeasty and wheaty. Malt and fruity flavors come through strong. Was only bottled 2 weeks ago I guess, so the honey was nice and noticeable. Standard wheat beer aftertaste. Mouthfeel: fizzy and light, with a to-be-expected kind of wheat beer feeling. Drinkability: Easy to drink, I could have one with lunch or several in my hammock on a summer day.
