Bottle at home, BBF online 12SOC, 18/01/13.
Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a swirl of filmage.
Nose is roast malts, dark fruits, liqourice, berry fruit - not necessarily picking blackcurrants out here, sugars.
Taste comprises blackcurrant, roast malt, liqourice - doing what it says on the tin!
Medium bodied, carbonation was a little over sprtized initially but I supped this over time and it flattened out so upped from a 3 to 4, dry finish.
Decent enough stout.

Bottle @ Bruce’s. Massive thanks to me. The pour’s deep brown with a small head. The nose is mildly unpleasant. I get a bit of vomit, aniseed, some stewed vegetable. A bit of tangy dark fruits. The taste is dark berry jam, roasted malts. A bit of cake icing. Medium body. Quite carbonated, perhaps overly so. Overall, not great. One of Bristol’s lesser beers.

Grey-brown with fluffy pale tan and subtle earthy spicy blackcurrants and dusty yeast. Medium carbonation, tart blackcurrant, a touch of spearmint perhaps. A spike of anise like licorice before the dry roast barley kicks in for the long finish. It’s subtle but flavourful.
