Cask, Keg & Bottle Conditioned; Seasonal - Christmas.

Our special festive brew is a harmonious blend of seven malts. A rich silky mouth feel is achieved from the addition of flaked malted oats with plum and dried fruit flavours. Only available at Christmas, naturally!

Keg at Beer Emporium. It pours hazy deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, leather, toasted sugar, fruit cake and light spice. The taste is smooth, caramel, sour fruits, dried berry, wood, leather and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, drinkable and balanced. Decent.

Bottle from trembling Madness, York. This is a very dark brown-black beer with chocolate and spiced red fruity flavours, plum notes and a slight sour creamy fruity finish.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour. Raisins, mince pies and spicy malt in the aroma. Fruity and spicy taste with raisins, cloves and malt detected.

Very much brown ale-esque. Pours nutty brown colour with small transient tan-head. Quite a soft nose requires concerted inspection. Slightly herbal, with some plum and raisins, Doesn’t really come alive until mid-palate with some dark malt then builds with raisins, dark-berries and a little orange. Without the belgian yeast this beer wouldn’t stand up. It stoutly carries the beer preventing it from vanishing into a watery disappointment as so many brown-ales do. Decent but uninspiring.

Hazy brown beer, good off white head. Crispy palate, semi dry. Semi sweet malts, thin and a little dry. Mellow ginger and a trace of lactose. Finishes dry. It’s okay but not floating my boat.

50cl, exclusive English brew, from The Bottle Shop Canterbury, complex brew, malty/sweet and slightly spicy/woody, balanced, hazy, good head, nice X-Mas brew

Dark chestnut with fluffy cream head. Herbal corriander and fruit cake on the nose. Juicy malt at first followed by minerally water and dusty English hops. Not really a festive one.

Winter warmer with hints of spice and herb and a vinous quality in the finish. Quite a weak palate. Not my thing.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Fergus, 30/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that clears. Nose is dark malt, fruit, spice. Taste comprises much of the same. Medium bodied, slightly on the thin side, some spice and bitterness in the finish. Very average, certainly the lowest scoring and dullest beer I’ve had from BBF.

Bottle at Chriso’s tasting 30/12/12. Mineral Chalky aroma. orange nut brown in colour. Metalic chalky and slightly herbal. Not on par with other BBF beers i have made.
